I'd probably be ordering a car if I could get sport seats in Saddle. The other choices don't appeal to me. I don't think there is any justification for the restriction on combinations of interior and exterior colors. I recommend that people visit a BMW assembly line sometime when they have a chance. These variables are totally trivial in the over-all scheme of things, where virtually every car assembled on the line is unique, and the systems for delivering the right parts to the right vehicle based on a bill of materials is completely automated. There may be some justification for limiting the range of options in dealer-ordered cars, which BMW has been doing for years. That holds down the cost of financing the pipeline and the flooring. But the notion that UK and German customers can have saddle-upholstered sport seats, but Canadian and US customers can't is just arbitrary and offensive. As long as that's the case, I am not a customer.

^^ or, it was ahead of its time. Love the natural brown. The saddle brown has a pinkish/redish tint to it that reminds me of volcanic mud. It draws my eye to it but not in a good way.

A word to BMW, Beige and Sport does not belong in the same sentence.

Allow me to step back and I'll make a subjective reply.
Evidence by the photo you posted, Ferrari beige is entirely different from BMW Beige.
BMW Beige has yellow washed-out diluted look that makes the interior appear vacuous. Also worth noting the beige seats of the Ferrari is contrasted with black making the combination look more dramatic.

The Ferrari RED does something to that interior which no other manufacturer's red can do. And one you start the engine up, the sounds emanating from the tailpipe, well, need I explain that to you too?

No need to elaborate and I'm very familiar with Ferraris and all they have to offer.

Just having a little fun with your choice of words. I agree BMW's beige interior pales in comparison. It does contrast nicely with a black exterior though, which is probably why it's offered on the M Sport Line.

Ferrari Beige leather (at least the one shown in the photo above as they have several shades of Tan/Beige) looks more like BMW Individual Champagne than BMW Beige leather.

BMW Bamboo leather also looks much better than Beige, IMO.

Now that's a color and an interior I would go for in an instant. Not the current E90/F30 Beige we've been discussing.

Since we're waxing nostalgic Nat brown also went dreamily with Imola red II.

The exterior colors that NA allows is also exasperating at times.

For the one series they offered virtual true blue duplicates in Montego and Le Mans, along with the darker Deep Sea, which in certain lighting conditions mimicked both.

Estoril blue and Mineral grey are nice enough touches, but this series could use some additional exterior shades with some pop in the M Sport line like Le Mans and IR II.

Saddle Brown on M-Sport

This would be aaaaaawsome Saddle Brown on M-Sport.
I'm saddly choosing Black on Mineral Gray for my coming 335i because saddle brown is not an option.
BMW: Are you listening. WE WANT SADDLE BROWN on the M-Sport.

If I were to get Msport, I'd be all in on the superman colors. Only better leather combo would be if they offered the fox red/ black interior with it. Bizzaro superman combo FTW.

I agree 100%. I actually wanted the leatherette on my estoril blue, M sport 328i. However, I didn't want black and the tan just didn't look very sporty so I sucked it up and paid the extra $1400 for coral red leather. To me, the obvious choice for estoril blue is the everset gray interior. Which they also do not allow.

If you could get any interior on any line, there would be a much larger number of build combinations. What I'm proposing is the following: offer saddle brown leather on the M sport line instead of beige. From what I've seen, beige is not very popular on the M sport line, whereas many/most of the luxury lines I've seen have saddle brown. Advantages:

- Finally possible to get saddle on a sport/M sport car, which is probably the #1 specific complaint I've heard related to restrictive interior options.
- Number of build combinations remains the same.
- Some people might get M sport instead of a sport line just to get saddle brown, which means more $$ for BMW.
- Others who were already planning to get M sport might upgrade from leatherette to leather just to get this color. I would probably have done this if it were possible (again, more $$ for BMW).
- Luxury line maintains an exclusive combination of saddle brown + anthracite wood trim (probably the best looking interior combo in my opinion).
- BJ would not have had to pretend to like the Luxury line when he secretly hates it

Anyone else think this is a great idea and pretty much a win/win for everyone?

Another way to skin this cat would be to offer a premium seat option in the other lines. I can pretty much get the car I would want in any of the lines, except for the seats. The standard seats are too flat and have too little adjustment. Sport seats are essential. Moreover, they are available as an option in non-sportline or MSport cars in non-US markets.

The idea that BMW is saving money by restricting choice can't be right. If you have seen the assembly line, you would understand that the number of variants being built on a single line is practically infinite, with engine, drive train choices and specific market requirements factored in. And dealer pipeline savings are also questionable, since so many options are special order only, and never show up in dealer inventory.

I think there is no good reason for the limitations, other than to make the different lines distinctive in some way, by making certain features or colors exclusive to a particular line. That's marketing nonsense that does not help the buyer. Until it changes, I'm happy with my E92 and its saddle-brown sport seats.

Saddle's a great color, though I wish it was a tad darker. Still my favorite. BMW should just jettison the 386 minitower PC beige interior entirely. It's boring AND unattractive all at once.

I agree that the lower dash plastic in the same color as the leather looks a bit.. off. Which is actually my #1 gripe with the beige -- it's on the plastic that it looks REALY bad.

And don't kid yourself, that tan on the Ferrari doesn't look so hot either.

That's my point as well.

These Lines concept make no sense to me, but again I'm a custom-order guy. If the idea is to push guys like me to get M cars (no freaking lines whatsoever) instead then they really succeeded.
