LED License Plate Lights - What am I missing here?

So I get a set of the aftermarket license plate LED lights for my '05 645 like these:

I get them in and pop-out the old ones and the connectors aren't even close to being the same as you can see in the attached pictures.

So can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?

If I remember correctly, the white end of the LED connector matches up with the old light bulb connector as if it were a light bulb replacement. So I think you need to pull the light bulb socket out of the old bracket and reconnect it to the male/female plug where you disconnected it already.

Money says that is it. I'll check shortly.

You're welcome - glad it worked. And don't worry about feeling stupid as it stumped me for a bit when I made the changes. It is natural to automatically disconnect the component at the male/female connector and after you do that it just won't fit.
