Yup. Old story. That classical music is not popular/mainstream has more to do with this crowd reaction more than anything. Now if it was Nicki Minaj, the ambassador of American taste, down there rapping to a drum machine, different story...
By the way, I'm taking my wife out to dinner and will be watching Bell perform with the Cleveland Orchestra next week. He's in town and we're excited and more curious to hear what a $4M Stradivarius sounds like. I'm not a hardcore classical music aficionado, more of a jazz/blues/rock pianist/guitarist, but nevertheless appreciative of talent when I see it. Happy New Year folks!
