Problem when cold

Not too sure if anyone can help. I have a 1997 323i coupe automatic. When I start her she's fine but. As soon as I put her in gear she idles really bad and tries to cut out. Once temp is at top of blue section she runs fine. I have a new air flow meter so I know it's not that. A friend said it could be the 5th injector - does any one know how I could check this?
Many thanks
Southlea

Why does your friend think it's an injector? Doesn't sound likely to me.

Sounds much more like a vac leak to me. Check the vacuum lines for holes/cracks. The major ones are:

Intake boot to ICV

IVC to intake manifold

Crankcase vent to Intake boot

Crankcase vent to ICV (small hose)

Bottom of intake manifold to Fuel pressure regulator (small and hard to find)

At least, those are the ones on a 325. If anybody knows of them being different on OBD2, please correct me. Either way, just try to find a leak. Might help to use starting fluid. Spray starting fluid or carb cleaner at vacuum lines while the car is running. If the idle changes, then some of the fluid has been sucked up there due to a leak.

Thanks will have a look it's a 325 lump so will work through your list. Mate says sounds like the 5th injector not giving the extra fuel when cold.... Wish I was one of the females who took notice years ago ***55357;***56836;will let u know if I find anything.

Idle control valve. It is underneath the manifold.
