Hidden space behind glove box

My 08 has no flashlight on the left, but a plastic filler piece with a hole. On the right is a door that opens to a small cubby that I presume was where the cd changer could go. Looks big enough to hold a small caliber weapon. Is it safe to put stuff in there or will they fall down?

Yep it's where the CD Changer would have been. It's also right above the fuse box, you can remove the back cover of the inside of the glove box, it's about 1-2 inches high across the rear of glove box, if you grab the top of it you'll notice a spring loaded button that will allow it to pul straight up.
I wouldn't store anything small in there or anything that is likely to cause an electrical short, such as something metallic.

As for the torch, it's the same as the one fitted in the e46/e39/e53/e60, there's loads available on EBay for small money. Handy to have.
