Red face Heater blows cold air 745 LI

Hey everyone. My 05 745 li is blowing cold air out of all vents when I turn the heater on...the dealer diagnosed it and $736 is not something I want to spend. Is this something I can fix or is it better to have them do it. I hate taking it to the dealer but I heard that it needs to be hooked up to a bmw computer to put it back into drive mode after its fixed and I don't know anybody with one of those. Any help is appreciated as its 27 degrees at night and my booty Warmer won't do the job for long

Thanks !
