I'm leaving but will be around

Well, guys I'm leaving bimmer for some time but it will not be forever. I sold my 550 and purchased...., I will be crucified for this of course but I need more economically car, in terms of repair, maintenance and fuel, so I went and got 12' VW Passat SEL TDi, my god what I have done! I loved 550, but maintenance and unknown battery discharged either dealer and my guys, I said my self I can't fit this in my family budget anymore, unfortunately.
I will be here around to help people to solve problems and to make right decisions. As my self I went with this car (550) into different social class when it's possible to maintain, but it could be too much for budget mid class engineer. Well it's my experience, I had 3-series and it was very reliable car to me, but now I can't afford a new F30 now, as one I liked about 47,000.
In other hand a full loaded Passat SEL TDI 4,000 miles (nav touch screen,DSG, comfort access, bluetooth media, Fender speakers, and possible update ECU (400 bucks only) to 200 hp with blowing 300+ torque! and I paid around 30,000. I'm getting 33 mpg in the heavy traffic and it has lots space on rear, it's really blowing away, my friend 6.2 was seating on front seat so his knees were stretched, so I sit behind him (6.0) and my knees had around 2-3 inches of the space. Crazy space.
Oh, I forgot to mention very important fact it's made in USA, well it could be good and bad, but Made In USA.

Congratulations on the purchase, even if it's not a BMW

But you got to do what's economically right for your family, and I applaud you for that

Thanks. I was thinking thoroughly before I did this move, because nothing drives like BMW, but economics tell different.

We look fwd to your expeditious return.

No extended warranty though on the 550? I sunk like $8k in maintenance this yr and was only out of pocket $700. No worries...

Where are the interior pics?

You gotta do what's necessary to survive man, even if it's getting rid of your toys.

Nothing wrong with a VW. TDi is awesome. Very nice car. I'm a long time VW owner. Switching from a gas V8 to a modern diesel is a good way to say you're doing your part in protecting the planet.
Check out VWVortex, good people over there.
Good luck.

Wow that VW is beautiful. If BMW doesn't bring a 5 series diesel to the US soon, I will be right behind you.

Interior is very nice but it has feel lower class car, it's in the end VW. The dash board is soft, but lower part is hard plastic but soft on touch, storage compartments don't appoint with velour or some other nice material. Bt over all it's good. The seats are comfortable, but of course there are not BMW sport seats. The seats have nice inserts, like ALCANTARA (called Dinamica® inserts). But remember is not BMW for 60,000 it's VW for 36,000 top model, but diesel.

Very nice.
Nice BMW M hat with Castrol sponsor so you remember where
to go when the time comes to trade in that Passat.

Yes I'm. I do remember best car I ever own it was E46 M3, if I didn't have kids, I would be keep this car.
I was surprised, VW did very good job with driving experience for front wheel drive car. You know some front wheel drive cars (most Japanese), do the jerk/lift/duck/oversteer and ect but you don't feel it a lot on this car. VW did always great job in term handling, but this Passat is little on soft side, I might go with different springs.

Well guys I tell you after spending a little time on TDiclub forum, it's really miss you. There are a lot people with their "nose up" like you don't know what are you talking about and ect. They do this way after couple replayed if your opinion doesn't match with couple veterans there then they are literally tell you Get Lost. So bad. I think it's a difference between BMW club and bunch VW "teenagers" or still at this age, you know what meant.
