door speaker replacement
I'm not sure if anyone has been searching in vain for a replacement 2 1/2" door speaker but I just put these in from Parts Express and they did fit.
264-861 TANG BAND W2-748SG 2" FULL RANGE DRIVER I'm not a stereo expert by any stretch of the imagination but they sound decent and fit inside the housing. I did put a bead of butyl around the outside edge of the rear of the speaker to close the 1/4 gap due to the size difference. But they did sound decent and the price was right. Just snip the wires on the old and busted one leaving as much of the wire attached to the factory connector as possible, twist your wires onto the new speaker, solder your connection and you're good to go. The rear clip in retainer piece will fit back in but it's tight. Just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone that can't stand that buzzing noise in their ear looking for a cheap alternative. |
