Key fob

recently I had dsicussed an issue with a message that flashed on my panel stating

Remote battery discharge. I learned that my comfort access BMW came with fobs that carried the CR2032 batts. I replaced these batts but found that this message is recurring. Is this normal, can I cancel it or is it referring to something else?

I had the same issue with one of my keys.. Despite changing the CR2302 batter I still would get the warning in the instrument cluster. I just assumed I reached the end of the life for the internal rechargeable battery.
I then had the recall performed for the soft close + comfort access and after the Dealer had the car for 2 weeks due to programming difficulty, the error has not returned. Perhaps my short trips were never enough to charge it?

-edit-
I stand corrected. There is no rechargeable battery in the CA key fob. According to the BMW training literature:
"Since the key does not need to be inserted into the holder to start the vehicle the battery
of the remote control/ID Transmitter is no longer chargeable, therefore requiring the battery
to be replaced. Under "average" usage the the battery may need to be replaced
once a year."

I had similar issues and started keeping my fob "plugged in" and that has ended the message of low battery for the key.

Pardon my ignorance but I don't understand how a non rechargeable cr2032 batt. can be affected by how far you travel. Typically I don't plug my key fob into the car. Is this wrong? Does everyone drive with said fob inserted. I am mystified by what should be so simple. If my fob has an unchargeable batt why is the remote batt. discharge being activated??? Thanks for your comments.

If you have Comfort Access, you have a non-rechargeable, replaceable battery in the fob. No amount of driving with it in the slot will charge it. If you have a non-CA car, the rechargeable battery must be in the slot to recharge the battery (you can't start the car without the fob in the slot). The rehcargeable battery is not supposed to be replaced when it reaches it's useful life span but there are DIY's on how to do it.

Okay this confirms what I thought. I sometimes insert the fob because rightly or wrongly I think maybe any changes to settings might overwrite over old stored data...does that make sense?

I checked my car and the yellow warning "remote batt discharge" is still showing even though I replaced the batts in both fobs. Any ideas on how to reset this warning?
