Black Kidney Grille Installed

Has anyone done this on an fairly late model X5

Im wondering how to remove the stock one without breaking the clips?
There are some how to videos out there but for later model x5's with different clip systems!
if someone wants to take a mini video of how to that would be awesome, obviously u dont have to pop urs grilles out. just a little walk through w how
to remove the clips.

Yes, the grey clip on the left, not the one on the right which holds the slats.

Here are the directions "Blue Dragon" gave me! They worked perfectely

These are the BMW performance Black Kidney Grilles glossy on the outside and matte on the inner rails
Part# for left and right grilles
B34651-71-2-150-246
B34651-71-2-150-247
Pop your hood, and then look carefully at the grille on the inside of the hood. Tthere are some tabs on the outside of the grille, that is what is holding the grille against the metal of the hood. There are about 3 tabs on the bottom and one on each side. You need to release those with a putty knife(5serieshb used a purdy thin putty knife no tape) or large flat screwdriver with some electrical tape on the end so you don't scratch anything. You only need to do this for the outter tabs, the inner tabs hold the black slats into the outter black trim, and you don'need to touch those

Once you have released the outter tabs, then just push the grille out towards the front of the car, starting with the bottom of the grill first. Repeat for the other grille

Glad you figured it out. I did the same back in December. Probably need to take care of the grilles next.

Installed without a problem in about 10 minutes. Just do not force it.

Lower grills need to be replaced now. Kidneys are done.

Congrats! They look great!

I also put in new grills today. Matte black slats with a carbon black surround.

In my opinion, black kidney grilles ook good only with a black and white exterior color. With other colors, they just look odd.
