Now a Good Time to Buy/Lease an E92 Coupe?

I've seen this question come up a few times lately in the forums.

With the strong residuals, low lease money factors, and $1,500 Lease/APR cash, and $750 OLP, well, I just couldn't resist myself
after putting a pencil to it and calculating my lease payment.

It'll arrive in time for Bimmerfest 2013 at The Rose Bowl...

Quite possibly the last of the only V-8 M3s!!

I might still make some modifications, but so far this is what I've got (below).

The F30 335i that I bought last Summer was really for my wife. I've been driving my E36 M3 for eight years now.

This will be my first new BMW since my 328Ci in 2000 -- the year of the very first Bimmerfest Event.

I forgot how exciting it is to custom-order a new car. There is something very special about picking all of the options, packages, colors (as opposed to simply settling on whatever is available)...

I would like to get the Premium Hi-Fi, but that requires the entire Premium Package. Now that I am 52 years old, it is not so important to be able to blast rock-and-roll like it was when I was young,
so I guess I can live with that...

The carbon fiber roof and the carbon fiber BMW Performance bits (mirrors, spoiler, and splitters) are going to look pretty cool I think. I really like the CF leather trim on the inside too.

This time around I am not going to do a bunch of mods like I did with the E36...

Call it my "mid-life crisis solution".

The dealer employee program is not compatible with ED, but I am sure I could arrange it. The conflict, though, would be
that if I did that, I would lose having my car arrive in time for Bimmerfest... Thanks for the suggestion though. I have yet

The stay was nice and the drive back was incident free.

The Canary was pretty good. For any one who is interested in the Santa Barbara delivery, it is only a 5-10 min drive from BMW Santa Barbara. They have parking on-site but it is valet only ($25 per day). It is located in middle of the downtown area near lots of restaurants and shops, unlike many other hotels in the area (such as the Four Seasons, which is on the beach).

Congrats and look forward to seeing pictures when you get it! BTW, I too am 52, though only for 9 more days.

I've spent weeks already contemplating the configuration/specifications. I would have ordered more options if they we available a la carte. I don't care for the Competition Package, and don't need or care about Navigation (have lived in Santa Barbara for 40 years), don't want anything in the Premium Package, and have no interest in any of the "Convenience" options. To me, all of the apps, gizmos and gadgets are fine for others, but I am more "old school", and want the Ultimate Driving Machine (and not so much a computer on wheels). The DCT would be nice, especially with my leg pain/sciatica, but I am more excited about a lightweight car with a big V-8 and a stick-shift. Power seats are unnecessary, and on the M3 with the CF roof, a moonroof would be a waste. Plus, if I track it, my helmet will fit much easier without the moonroof, not to mention eliminating the extra weight up high. The only option I would like to get is Premium Sound, but BMW forces buyers to take the Premium Package to get that, so I have to pass. At my age, a high-output stereo is not as necessary as it was once upon a time. So... There you have it... The Ultimate Replacement for my Supercharged E36 M3!

FWIW, I did think long and hard about a 335is. The argument in favor of that car is a strong one, and has been discussed in the forums ad nauseum. Fuel economy is not a concern for me since I live 1.5 miles from the dealership. I have been driving a M3 for many years. Like other thimgs, once you've tried it, there's no going back...

Thanks! You can't go wrong with ED. The delivery process is the experience of a lifetime, and you can't beat the 7% $ savings.

Re: options, I just added PDC. For only $340 more, I figured why not...

Jon, congrats on the pending delivery of your M3 coupe. Nice build, a purist configuration.

I recently ordered a M3 coupe and wrestled with DCT vs. MT. For now, it is configured with the DCT. But going forward, MT's are going to be harder to come-by. To have the opportunity to own a M3 with a NA V8 w/ MT....very tempting.

NICE car Jon. I want another M3, but my commute (30k miles a year) makes that not a practical option. So instead we got an x5M for the better half to help quench my thirst for another M3 or M6 and get her the x5 she wanted anyway. You and I are alike. My only options were SIRIUS, style 300M wheels and high gloss roof rails. As I told my C.A. all I need is the motor and the suspension. You will love it. I do like your desire to go 6MT. Only way to go in my book.

You live 1.5 miles from your work and you drive? My inner hippie says to ride a bike, but that probably wont fare to well with sciatica.

I helped a buddy of mine get into a e92 in NorCal (loaded 335i). I mentioned you're in SB but with the mrs highly enthusiastic about the purchase, fly-n-drive wasn't really practical with a small child and it made more sense to do it locally

Justin, if my vote counts get the x5M. I just love mine and I convinced a couple other festers to get one too.

I highly recommend premium sound if this is a custom build car. I don't blast my music either, but you'll definitely appreciate the sound quality/clarity.

Nice choice, but will be expensive. Looks like 115k minumum for one of those. Even though I have grown to love the new 6 series, I would not pay 6 series money for the GC. If I get a 6 it will be a coupe or I will just get a 5/M5. I cannot see the price premium for the 6 series as a sedan being worth it. Just me.
