Tires for BMW X5

Hi,

I'm at Les Schwab now and they are recommending Toyo 255/50R19 103V Proxes All Seasons tires. Has anyone used these tires before? How are they and are these good tires?

No. These are the wrong tires. The load rating is wrong for one thing at 103.

Go home and do research before buying tires.

I noticed that too and asked about the 107 load rating but Les Schwab would guarantee their tire. But I've now walked away as I don't feel comfortable with the lower load rating. I'll stick to Costco but don't like their waiting times.

Is there an urgent need to buy tires? You seem to be in a rush. I researched tires for a few weeks before I bought.

Not really. I've already walked away from les Schwab now and can afford to look around. Costco and discount tires are my next choices. I plan to stick with Bridgestones.

Tire Rack is a great website for research. I bought my chosen tires locally however.

The slightly lower load rating is ok if you are not using the vehicle at its max rating per the manufacturer...very few people do.

I don't consider that load rating as "slightly lower".

Its significantly lower.

I do my research, shop prices on line...call my tire store,see if they can match or come close. They order them if necessary, call ,e when the arrive,best up an appointment to pop them on.

103 is rated at 1.929lbs
107 is rated at 2,149lbs

That equates to about the weight of a regular adult male...

Yep, not much of a difference AT ALL but a lower rating also typically equates to a softer sidewall as well so I'd skip it simply due to that fact alone

I don't know what the manual says but my BMW came with 109 load rated tires

I wonder if the run flats have a higher load rating by default due to a harder sidewall

I'm on my second set of Toyo STIIs. Love them, got over 40K miles out of the last set.

Get the XL version only however. 107V
