Hey everyone The name is Zach Based In NJ. been around BMW for years now and I rarely get to see anyone m6x or s62 motor. So I decided before drifting season starts anew to build this swap for all those who wanted it done. Hate to see all europeans doing this swap successfully having all the fun. So I will be updating this with pictures from start to finish and maybe if you all are lucky diagrams and how to's. Also this build will be coming with turbocharging and megasquirt so bare with me guys.
europeans swap in the bmw v8's because ls1's are harder to find and more expensive over there.
you might want to reconsider the m6x turbo and look into an LSX swap. they are getting cheaper and cheaper. the LSX has more torque and will make more power with less than half the money into it. it will also make that hp more reliably. there is a good reason so many drift cars use them.
just food for thought.
also, the m6x swap has been covered, in detail, by many people.
look forward to this! been a while since bimmerfest has had a quality build thread in the E30 section! I know of one here in New Zealand, so if you have any super in depth questions about it let me know and ill try find an answer for you
It isn't about the money needed plenty of that. It is the fact on have a decent project to do at home and the shop. That is something someone can't change. I like to keep items where they belong german motors in a german car. Plus I hate american motors to be honest. I haven't seen any threads on complete m6x builds in e30s as of yet went through atleast 200 pages between forums just see a few pictures and diagrams nothing really on point to be honest. that is just from what I see. I am basically going to do a free maybe pdf or a book haven't decided as of yet, but will include videos, pictures, write-ups, the different ideas that came to mind along with the help of friends and fellow forum members glad to be of help to me in the long run I do Thanks You all. Like I said in another forum I'm using a m60 block with m62 heads with s62 machined internals, but I got ridiculed for that and threatened to getting banned. So I'm here to prove them wrong. Now Andy I will be definitely asking questions on different setups. I did start this project last week From when I got the car, gutted it, 6pt roll cage and harness and motor being installed. Now I'm onto making headers for this turbo setup. I will definitely post before and after pictures and some more pictures for teasers lol. Oh btw I'm not doing this alone about 6 other car guys of mine is helping so a lot is getting done. Sorry for no pictures as of yet. Just Bare With Me for a little bit.
Well that is definitely going to be a good question obviously going to do it in staged from 4psi all the way to 18 or 20. But with turbos and manifolds.
So I need opinion some what I should do about suspension and exterior color this car is going to be used for drifting and some days to shows. That's all I don't what colors and brand name coilovers to pick.
Go for it. A guy local to me has a M60 E30 in lancaster county. Which is not to far away.
Oh, and Andy. The best car builds are never documented on the Internet. Then you could be corrupted by someone else veiw of your car and instantly your car is not your idea. (Okay maybe that's far fetched.)
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
