Did you order Bluetooth? You can't enable it unless you ordered the telematics unit (which incl. Bluetooth and Assist technology).

Nope I haven't yet. If I do do I have to go through dealer (who will suck out $$$$ from me) or is there a cheaper and reliable way out...

Well assuming the car hasn't been built yet, the dealer is the only option. Actually, even after it's been built, it's possible you can get a retrofit but I haven't heard too much about retrofitting Bluetooth for MOST vehicles. I guess in either case you have to ask the dealer.

I really don't understand some of these posts. If you already have your car, and you didn't order BT, you cannot retrofit. So then by the true definition of BT integration, you can no longer achieve this.

Well I have already bought a car, and honestly I did not want to invest $1500 for the whole primium package. But then I saw it's demo in one of my friend's car. So I was just interested to know how do I do it in cheapest cost. Also a bluetooth headset is always an option.

BMW Assist with Bluetooth Wireless Technology is what you need to order and it costs $750. This gives you the ability to pair a BT enabled phone with the car's stereo system. But to really get the full benefit of this, you need to own a BT enabled phone that is approved by BMW. If you don't, then you will probably only be able to send and receive calls, and won't be able to do things like transfer your phonebook over to the car. On a non-iDrive car, this tends to be less of an issue since you can still rebuild a phonebook in the car itself with voice tags.

Using a BT headset is really an irrelevant point because it has NOTHING to do with the car itself.

About your friend's car so I'm clear, does he have iDrive?

Yes, it's called re-ordering another 25 with BT option, if not the PP.

Ask your dealer about the ULF Kit if you already have your car.

One would think that needing a bluetooth-enabled phone would have been OBVIOUS.

You missed the point. It's not just ANY BT enabled phone, but one that is certified to work with the telematics unit. This is NOT obvious judging by the number of "does phone xyz work my car" posts.

Hello everyone. Quick question. I'm new BMW owner. I have professional audio system pre installed, without I navigation thing screen. When I checked YouTube for instructions how to set my Bluetooth to be connected with my phone. So when I checked out video,I couldn't find same stuff they had. So I had no " phone" option. Does it mean its not build in? Just curious. Thanks

Op, search for this over at e90post (search: **Bluetooth retrofit guide** for TCU and ULF) there is a lot of false information here regarding the retrofit of bluetooth in your 2006 325i...i know because i did the retrofit in mine. In actuality its very simple install and you can do the install yourself in 30-45 min, but the dealer will need to re-flash your car. Here's the parts you need:

Salvaged TCU (Bluetooth box that fits in the trunk): $125
Overhead OEM FZU (Overhead console to hold microphone) off eBay: $107
Misc Parts (loudspeaker, microphone, bolts/screws, brackets) from BMW of Fairfax: $100 (Save money and do NOT get the back-up antenna - part not needed)
BMW of Fairfax charges a flat 2-hours of Labor for updating: $270
====================
Total Bluetooth/Assist retrofit ~$570

The install is as simple as: routing and re-arranging MOST fiber optic cables, screwing the TCU to trunk bed floor, swapping out the over head console, and dropping the panel by the steering wheel to screw in the loudspeaker.

In 06 Bluetooth phone was and option.

In 06 Bluetooth phone was and option.
Its and extra module that's in the trunk .(under trunk floor cover see TCU in last entry)
The OEM option requires another hardware module and programming as indicated in the last
entry. There are a couple of aftermarket modules by mobridge and Dension that will give you the phone and more.
The Dension Gateway 500s will give you bluetooth phone and music streaming , USB and I believe Ipod and Ipod control. The units are not particularly cheap (but cheaper than factory stuff and with a lot more functions) but are one of the few things
that interface with the BMW Most Bus system other than the factory retrofits.

For stereo and entertainment info go here
http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27

Also you can use this to find out what options came with your car

Hello. Also curious about AUX is armrest, when I connect my media player to cable nothing happens. It actually seems that aux is not a option on my vehicle, even thou I have an input build in. Does anybody know how to check that?

Did you go to the aux option

Did you go to the aux option
and turn up the volume(aux has its own volume control) . Also I would check the output of the source device with headhones
or something to make sure its actually working.
It only plays through the mini stereo jack that says aux.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...3&d=1169133185

It could be broke but they all come with it working.

It appears you have some of the same Issues I had when I purchased my used 335I a few months ago, I have a USB and AUX in the center console box, it didnt work, I also found out thru sirus, when they called me on my cell phone that I had SAT radio, didnt show up in the menu. A very knowledgeable person on here kindly told me to go to the dealer and have my car reprogrammed, I took it to the dealer, and for a couple of hundred bucks, which carmax was so nice to pay for, the dealer programed the audio unit and everything worked, plus they uploaded the latest BMW software(I think) and cleared all the stored codes. So now the SAT works, the aux and USB port with with my Ipod. Go see the dealer

dont bother replacing the aux port thats not the problem
its all in the programing

everything is great now

Hondo

I bet that that radio is a replacement. You may need to get it programmed to your car.
