F10 Enabling HUD Entertainment List and Telephone

All are aktiv = 1

Ok, got it to work... It only shows-up from using the steering wheel controls, not the Idrive main controller.

And you get nothing in the HUD? No Entertainment, No Recent Call List, no nothing?

What about under iDrive Info Display, is every thing checked off? Same thing under HUD options?

What are these hives for:

Kombi & HU_NBT:
HUD_VZA_ENABLE

Kombi only:
HUD_TLC_ENABLE

Tlc is lane change assistance on hud. But you need to have driver assistance package for it to work.

Convinced my dealer to update my software while I had it in for maintenance! Tonight I was able to add entertainment, incoming calls, recent call list and voice commands to my HUD. Thank you all for the help with this!

What does voice commands do?

It is just a visual confirmation of your voice commands. Just like it shows in your BC under the speedometer...but cooler because it is in your HUD.

That is sweet ride. Love the wheels. I am putting on the 312, put M5 grills, but I may switch back after noticing your 550.

I am picking up my 550i next weekend and am interested in coding the music/phone options into the HUD as described here. A quick clarification - will the title of the song currently playing by your plugged in iPod or bluetooth integrated iPhone show up on the HUD? Does the HUD entertainment option only show stations but not the song/artist info?

Can't wait to play around with this stuff!

YES, it will show the song name only, based upon input selected, IPOD, etc, recent calls (if you press the phone button (the same as it does in the extended display. This is activated by the buttons on the steering wheel.

It will also show incoming call info.

It will when you press the roller button on the steering wheel. But it will be active for only 3-5 seconds and then disappears. Phone calls will also show up when activated. They also disappear after a brief display.

The only thing missing from the entertainment on the HUD is song and artist info when switching satellite radio channels. That would be nice.

You see song names when scrolling though USB/Bluetooth music on the HUD so maybe it is possible to turn it on for Satellite.

Any ideas?

Was reading through this post trying to program HUD for incoming calls, playlist. My KOMBI CAFD file is KOMBI: CAFD_00000069_008_000_042 not KOMBI: CAFD_00000069_009_000_042.
I cannot see the required options similar to others that responded.
Can I rename the required CAFD file (in my folder) to the name read by the SVT? I that doesn't work, how can I copy or update it?

No. You cannot rename CAFD file name. You can try and inject that CAFD into Kombi ECU though, and then VO Code Kombi with it, and then FDL Code as desired:

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on Kombi => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select newest CAFD => Select OK => Right-Click on Kombi (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Afterwards, you can FDL Code as normal.

That said, I don't think simply updating the CAFD will add anything. In order to get the features, the firmware on Kombi needs to be updated to >= 47.1.

ok thanks i thought i checked this and only saw _008 in the pop window of files to select. i'll take another look to see if i missed _009.

I read this entire thread...what are the settings for a 2014 x3? I have the NBT, HUD, and extended instrument cluster....

For X3, I a not sure if it is identical, but these are the codes to set aktiv in F10:

I have repeatedly told you simply changing the CAFD will not add this functionality. The Kombi Firmware needs to be flashed.

Just started playing around with coding this weekend. Successfully enabled turn-signals in HUD and mirror close from CA/FOB.

Struggling to understand if entertainment/telephone recents in HUD is even really an option given my production date.

I did have my car flashed last week to 2.49.2 but I do not see the following in the KOMBI module in e-sys:

HUD_ENTERTAINMENT
HUD_TELEFONANRUF_ENABLE
HUD_TELEFONBUCH_ENABLE

I have searched for HUD in other modules (HU_CIC) but not seen anything similar.

Any thoughts?

You have an early F10 build, (6/18/10 prod), which is pre 0311 production date, so you do not have 6WA Extended Black Panel Display, which means you cannot have the advance HUD Features.

I would seriously consider a 6WA Kombi retrofit. The display is so much nicer, with or without HUD.

Thanks Shawn. Since I already have the latest software, is it just a simple swap of the display (looks easy per youtube video) or is it more involved? What additional benefits do I get besides extended info (telephone/entertainment) HUD?

Is this something i can purchase from bimmertech or does it have to be ordered from dealer?
