Help me strip out some options from my build

If there are any additional keeps, I would go with the parking. I have the DA package instead of the Parking, and I would have preferred to have the PDC and RVC.

For the tranny, skip the AT, and go with the 6MT. You're getting a sport line. drive it like a sports car. Also, remove the X-drive and go with RWD. Save 2K right there.

Its nice to get back to the OP's subject matter instead of all this talk about money BS, who's got what. Who really cares what anybodies financial status is I know I don't its not doing me any good one way or another.

I am sure the OP has found this thread far more informative than could ever have been imagined. In that vein please allow me to clarify a couple of points:

1. The correct spelling of the county seat of Passaic County, NJ is Paterson (one 't').
2. The above scenario should be enacted only in daylight, in clear traffic conditions and after learning how to avoid inadvertently doubling back on the area's irregular one-way street network.

Both my wife and I have 11 figure yearly incomes (providing you count the dollar sign, the comma, the decimal point and the two numbers after the decimal point as figures.) And that's not counting our Frequent Flier Bonus miles or our Duane Reade points!

There is a reason why the overwhelming majority of people buy used cars instead of new cars. And there is a reason why the top selling cars are the Camry, Civic, Corolla, Malibu and Fusion. It's money, or the lack thereof. The masses are buying cars for $25,000 or under.

You can't get into a BMW 3 Series without paying atleast $40,000. A $40,000 car is way out-of-sight for most 90% of the population.

Those cars you mention probably have annual sales of 600K-900K worldwide. I think the 3 series sells something like 400-500K worldwide. It might not be the biggest seller but there are clearly a lot of people who can afford it. In many euro countries, the 3 series is a top 5 seller, I think it outsells the Ford sedan in the UK. Some euros use them as taxi's, so how much of a status symbol can it really be?

It's basically the J Crew of cars, decent quality day to day wear, fashionable but affordable.

I'd imagine a lot of those in Europe are a 316i, 318d, or a 320i/320d.

My options - as in OP. 3 year lease / 36k miles. $0 cap reduction, 0 MSD's

US Delivery $588/mo + tax and 1st months payment
Euro Delivery $544/mo + tax and 1st months payment

I really don't know all the details because it's through a broker but the ED price is $4 more than I got on BMWConfig using my options, .00130 money factor and $500 over Euro Invoice.

Thoughts? These payments are great to me. Might try and drop a few options to lower it... possibly drop down to 10k miles but have to see what that difference is. Figured drop to 10k miles and maybe drop xdrive might be some good savings.

Anyway, deal looks good to me, but it's hard to say without seeing what options you actually went with.

But if you're loading it all up, then it seems like a good deal.

Nobody really cares what other people make. Unless you're sharing that wealth, it does me no good. I hope OP wasn't scared off by the banter. It's fairly typical for these threads to degrade into a fair amount of poo tossing, which can be entertaining to watch, i can't lie. We really are a bunch of monkeys who forgot what life was like up in the trees.

On that note, I'd be curious if OP culled any usable advice from this lovefest.

ALL the options I started with. So that's my baseline! Now if I start dropping stuff I'll get even better payments.

If you have the cash I'd put down the max number if MSDs. Each one lowers your MF. You get the MSDs back at the end of the lease. It's roughly an 11% return on the money...sort of a no brainer.

Looks like a good deal on the surface. I didn't really run it through a calculator or anything. You might want to try truecar.com just to confirm, but it's definitely not a bad deal. How much did they cut from the MSRP?

get it from nj dealer. that what i do. the only down side is if you come to ny dealer for service they won't give you a loaner. i drop it of at manhattan bmw and catch a cab to my office. prices in nj are a bit lower as well

Not sure what the deal is for the US delivery price. Have to get all the breakdowns.

I'm working with a buddy of mine who a broker, so I'll find out what dealer(s) he's working with on this deal and inquire. Not sure I would put the money down, I have better usage right now (in 2nd semester of grad school!)

Can't do in NY. Law limits max security deposits.

I notice there are two automatic high beams on there.

They should have given the breakdown to you, but honestly, you're right there. If Euro Delivery is only $600, I'm sure US delivery will be in that ballpark.

Looks really good. At this point, you'd only be haggling over nickels and dimes for a car with an MSRP north of $50k. So I'm not sure it's even worth pushing back anymore on them.

What does the broker charge? I assume he or she is in the business to make some money too, not that there is anything wrong with that...

I would drop xdrive. My future BMWs will not have it and I will not have to worry about paddles and other crap since it will be MT. Keep the tech, prem, sport and rear camera.

Nice to see things back on topic, BJ needs his own thread for his rants so i can enjoy reading it

If you are debating dropping Xdrive, consider upgrading to the 335. The price is pretty much identical to that loaded 328xdrive to get the loaded 335. A bunch of the options are now standard and you save money in some packages and the base price is almost identical to the xdrive base.
