E39 Audio Problem
I have a BMW 530i E39 and have had a problem for some while that the audio keeps cutting in and out, sometimes upto weeks or more. I could in the beginning switch between say radio and cd and the audio would come back on but now it will not work at all. Any suggestions where I should start looking? I have taken off all the connectors in the boot and cleaned and sprayed all the connection but no change. I have taken the amp out but nothing obvious. Is there a wiring loom diagram available so I can check further, I am new here so thanks for any help

Hi
You haven't said which audio setup you have in your car. 'Cutting out' intermittently is a common issue on some E39 audio setups. No wiring diagrams as such, but there are specialists who will fix your unit, if it actually is that fault. You might have loose connections, chafed or broken continuity wires in the loom etc as well. If you've not done so already, nip over to http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/ and look for members 'Rob the Viking' , 'RichardP' and 'Xcalibar' who can point you in the right areas to check things and Xcalibar is one who does fixes upgrades and repairs with an excellent reputation and pricing level. Cheers, Dennis! |
