2012 Leftover - What to pay?

I've been thinking about ordering for European Delivery a 2013 328i xdrive manual, which apparently won't exist.

So, at the dealer I found a leftover 2012 328i that has just about everything except a backup camera. It's quite literally loaded:
- 6MT
- Sport Line
- Black leather with red piping
- Navi
- Xenons
- Convenience
Lots of other things I can't even think of. MSRP is 48,400. They're offering 44,400, which (with the crappy residual on leftovers) makes cost of ownership and monthly payments too high.

I don't think it's going to be easy for these folks to sell an unleasable 6MT RWD here in PA in the middle of winter. How hard can I negotiate this if I decide to go with this car instead of ordering for ED?

if you are looking to buy, you can easily do under invoice. if its a 0 mile, not punched car, i would start at 1-2K under invoice. BMWFS has no sales support anymore on the 2012s, so leasing one will be expensive. the ship sailed for leasing a 2012 in october.

You will take a 1-year depreciation hit as soon as you drive it off the lot. I'd figure out what that is and try to work it into the price.

I had to trade in my 2012 328i with 10k miles and the price drop was about 7k. It was a BMW Assist so they took care of the difference. So its about 7k depreciation

Just tell the dealer what you just posted "I don't think it's going to be easy for these folks to sell an unleasable 6MT RWD here in PA in the middle of winter." and offer them $3000 below invoice.

Nice car but too high. I got my '13 Xdrive out the door for that price out the door w/ those options minus leather, plus alarm and heated front seats. Order and buy. Even if you customize the car differently, you'd be in a good negotiating position IMO. Plus full warranty. If he drops 4k then that's a diff story.

Something tells me that you may get that ED 2013 328i xDrive cheaper than the 2012, with better leasing terms and a nice ED experience.

This is a no-brainer if you can travel and wait for delivery.

It should be worth about 10% less than an equivalent 2013. Go build the same as a 2013 model, assume a market price of invoice + $1,000, and offer 10% less than that.

I agree, except I would offer 15% below invoice +$1k, and settle for nothing less than 10% below.

At the end of December, I leased a 2012 Executive Demo 328i with 5,700 miles on the odometer.

The car's MSRP when brand new was $49,795 and the invoice was $45,950.00. I got the car for $40,250 which is $5,700.00 below invoice; I felt the deal was very fair.

Keep in mind this car had 5,700 miles on it and yours has none.

Apparently the car is still there, unsold. It is SO tempting to skip the euro delivery and buy this car.

So rare to find 6mts on a lot.

But I still like that car at more like $41,500-42k tops.

That's not a very good deal at all, you need more cap cost reduction to make that deal attractive.

By comparison, my $52K sticker 2013 x-drive 328i, is $586 a month before taxes. That's with nothing but additional monthly security deposits at closing (about $3500 worth I believe).

There are phenomenal lease deals right now on the 3 series. The smartest move you can make is suck it up, find a 2013 you like on the lot and move on it. You can probably get a similar car for under $500 per month right now.
