The new to the US BMW X1 will arrive at BMW dealers in the fall of 2012 as a 2013 model year. Get your X1 28i with either sDrive (RWD) or xDrive (AWD) or get the US exclusive I6 N55 powered X1 35i dDrive. |

2014 x1
Are there any expected changes-upgrades for the 2014 X1. I am planning on doing an ED in June 2013, but would wait if significant improvements were available on the 2014 X1. Also, any knowledge of when the first 2014 X1 would be available for ED. THANKS!

Actually, word is now that model year 2013 production ends in February and the 2014s start in March and will be in the US by June. I am planning on a May ED and wasn't able to book ED past February, sounds like this is why.

Well, I'm planning to do April pick up for X1 and I'm about to place an order as well but with this news that 2014 starts from March I think I can get 2014 instead of 2013.
Will see...

a BMW SA told me that BMW is shortening their 2013 MY production to only about 6 months because of the number 13. I posted this info a while back in the F30 forum and got a few chuckles from doubters... but I guess this is very likely the truth!

Yes, and so it's clear, my SA called me this morning to let me know that BMW NA has confirmed my order for a May ED 2014 is going through. It was on hold due to 'dealer allocation of 2014 X1's not being available yet' but that has changed today.
I'm not sure yet though if the X1 is no longer are dealer allocated or if he has his March X1 allocations already, but as of two days ago he wasn't expecting March X1 ED allocations for several weeks. Today it all changed and my ED requested dates are officially in and so is the order. Hopefully it sticks this time as BMW NA has told him everything is a go now. |

2014 x1
I just ordered X1 2/15/13 and they told me it would be 10-12 weeks for delivery and it would be 2014. They had a brand new option sheet and I ordered paddle shifters as a standalone for $110 which is only available on 2014 I believe.

Paddle shifters were only not available for ordering on a 2014 X1 for the first few weeks in January when the first dealer ordering software was originally released, but as you mention it's now available again on the 2014s and has always been available on the 2013. |

Feb Order will be 2013
Just checked again with my SA. My Feb 14 order will be a 2013 build in early March with delivery end of April.

Yes it makes sense if I do ED late May and have the car redelivered in the US late June or early July. I will keep pushing. Thanks a lot!

You should be able to pickup a U.S. Spec in April or before. Mine is scheduled for pickup in Munich on 12 April and I could have had it sooner.

Is correct that you can pick it up sooner, but if you are a US resident and your car is coming to the USA your car will ship back and be held at the port of entry until EPA certification will be completed on May 13th. This means that anyone who ordered a US car in the US will have to wait to receive their car.

Avoiding 13? Probably not as far fetched as it might seem. Jeep is also doing that with the new GC (and perhaps other models as well). There are those out there who will not buy a "13" car.
