I got a quick question for you guys. What is this stuff? There seems to be rust around some of it. Should I remove it to get at the rust? If I do, do I need to reapply it after I fix the rust?

A suggestion for posting pics like these, with them, also post a 'reference picture' showing what part of the car you're referring to, so we don't have to strain figuring out what part it is.

Sorry about that. In the picture the stuff is on the hood. The same stuff is also on the trunk.

School has started back up so progress is slow. I have been sanding and patching rust mostly, although the exhaust did come back from sand blasting. So, I decided to paint it first for practice. I mean who cares if I mess up the exhaust a little? I am the only one who will see occasionally. The paint needs 24 hours in between coats and I am doing two coats pre side. In the picture I have just sprayed the second coat. I think it is coming out nicely so far.

I am thinking about doing all the plastic moldings in black paint. I have seen cars were they sprayed the all the plastic with whatever color they were using on the car. Now I do not like the same unbroken color over the car, but the gloss on the plastic looks good. What do you guy think? Is it rice or nice?

Definitely don't use gloss on the side trim.

I agree with Karl, no gloss on trim. I think you should keep it black, but matte. Still. No. Orange! Know what you mean about school, I'm back in after a long time and its kicking my butt too.

Yeah, definitely rice on glossy black trim. Keep it matte or original in my opinion.

That is why I asked, the plastic will stay unpainted.
