Decrease Engine Temperature
Hi guys,
I have two cars, F02 and F10. The idea is to change the thermostat control map to decrease normal engine temperature from 108'C (226F) to 90'C (194F). Do you have any ideas? thanks a lot! |

yeah, wouldn't doing this overuse the cooling system, lower MPG, more tear/wear? your car keeps engine at optimal operating temp for you anyway...

I have some technical background and do personally believe that 90C is much better for the engine than 105C-110C that it now run at.
Additionally I have just paid $1.5k for the drive line gasket changing on N74 (because of oil leakage at 55000km), which does not look nice for BMW, and guess what, I am not the only one who faced the problems with different oil leakages on F-series. This is the high temperature test of BMW (Castrol) Longlife 5W30, very nice one: http://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/6603/...2_57095ff5_XXL Anyhow I have some cars in my own that are out of warranty (BMW supports 2y limited warranty in Russia), so I just want to make some amendments at my risk. I will appreciate any your idea of controlling thermostat in the way of getting 90C. |
