When is the 2014 LCI F10 due out?

It has been confirmed by my CA that the LCI F10 starts production July 2013 as a MY 2014 5er. BMW has this published internally on-line for the BMW dealerships.

One of the fixes will be steering improvement. My car will black on black. Totally black. I will replace or refinish every bit of chrome on the exterior so that it is black. I am going to refinish the wheels in ferric gray or black.

Hopefully the improved steering and increase in hp/tq, will make the 550i Xdrive more competetive with the S6. I need AWD for my next car to replace my M3 and want something with a bit of attitude. I want to stay with BMW and prefer the exterior styling, however the S6 has it beat everywhere else right now.

The 2013 550i's fuel saving electric steering system has been replaced with a hydraulic unit, and the M-specific speed-sensitive Servotronic arrangement can be adjusted to one of three different settings. The steering now feels quite natural.

This car also got a new engine, rated at 445 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque. That’s a gain of 45 horsepower and 30 pound feet of torque compared to last year’s models, courtesy of BMW’s Valvetronic variable valve timing system.

Pretty sure the xi still has the hydraulic steering not the electric.

When I read the article I understood that the hydraulic steering reference to mean that the M5 got the hydraulic steering, not the 550i. Although I would be thrilled if they offered hydraulic steering in the F10 LCI.

This test by Car and Driver concludes it is the suspension that is behind the F10's handling woes and not the electric vs. hydraulic steering.

The 2013's are already out (have been for nearly six months) and those things did not happen.

I have to admit - I am pretty happy with my steering and my M-Sport suspension.

CA yesterday confirmed LCI for 2014 MY and that ordering guide comes out in February.

They're reporting it as the typical cycle which would indeed be in 2015. Seems that if BMW is fast tracking the facelift one year sooner than usual for this generation and releasing it as a 2014 MY, these guys didn't get the memo.

Notable stuff I noticed: I can see the less-slats look on the grille which should be interesting (if one deems it aesthetically superior to the current one, and if BMW doesn't change the grille shape, an OEM swap if desired would be doable I'm sure), yet can't tell what they mean by "pronounced reflectors"? The reflectors are the thin pieces on the bottom of the rear bumper, the taillights don't have any reflectors. It looks like they're identical taillights with what will be a different ending form, which I'm curious to know how that goes.

They just updated the Nav for 2013 models from what I hear, so it'll be interesting to see just how good it gets again if they truly do upgrade it again. The Nav right now is awesome. From what I understand (if I remember correctly), the 2013 cars got an all new Chip that makes the car processes much faster than the old one? Which regardless if true; all the tech/electronics/gadgets on this car are damn near instantaneous. Quite a contrast compared to the comparatively "wait and load" effect on my old M-B's.

I'm still thinking the LCI will be for the MY 2014. Why would they be testing minor fascia and rear updates so far away. Time will tell!

I hope you're right about the timing -- summer of 2014 is when my lease comes up. I'm hoping the next car will be post-LCI.

Markl53, that's right the next 5 will be ready for order in 2016 as MY2017 if the F10 has 3 LCI MYs, not 2015 as I mistakingly wrote. Still, that's not that far away for a car that feels that it was relatively recently released. A 2014 LCI feels very early.

I think the horsepower bump will be the primary change for the LCI.

BMW is starting to become annoying with their OCD behavior - corporate culture.

I think this is the result as well as the intended consequence of their lease-every-car business model.

I'm sorry K-A. The 2013 Nav is awesome? Excuse me? I had to hold my breath when I read that. Yes, it is quick and yes the 3D graphics are nice, but the routes still suck, and try getting it to direct you to a restaurant on the other side of the city - when you know the name but not the address. It's an exercise in frustration. Siri and Apple maps, fiasco that it is, got me there - BMW couldn't find the place.

Lol. No prob. I guess that just goes to show how crappy the Nav in my 2011 E-Class was then.

BMW singed a deal with Nokia (parent co for Navteq) for their next generation Nav. So whenever the next, "next generation" nav systems comes out it should come with the Navteq. I think the new next gen like the one on our 2013 F10's will see an update of adding in a touchpad.

BTW - I for one am happy with the 2013 Nav. :-)
