2001 Z3 Package Questions
Hello, I am 17 and drive a 2001 2.5i Z3 Roadster. I am aware that it is not a "M" roadster, yet there is an "M" emblem/logo on the bottom of the steering wheel. I was wondering if i had some sort of appearance or sport package or if that is just a standard detail. Thanks

Someone has replaced the steering wheel with the M version. This is commonly done. It is also common to replace the manual shift knob with the lighted M version.
The Z3 sport package has deeper-contoured seats, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and cross-spoked wheels. The M (motorsport) is a much higher-performance car with upgraded engine, suspension, and exhaust plus trim changes like different gills, dual exhaust ports, license plate on trunk instead of bumper, and chrome around gauges and shifter. |

My 2001 Z3 3.0 also has an M steering wheel. It was actually part of the trim package not an after the fact replacement. Run your VIN decode and it'll show up there.

My 2001 2.5i has the same thing. I believe it's considered part of a "sport" package. Mine also has the sport seats and the cross spoke wheels (style 42).

Per the 2001 Z3 sales brochure there is only 2 items you get when selecting the Sport Package on a 2.5L roadster :
- 4 x 16x7.0 cross spoke alloy wheels and 225/50R-16 all season tires. - Sport seat. The M steering came standard on both the 2.5L and the 3.0L. The 17" type 42 wheels were only available with the 3.0L as part of the sport package (225 front, 245 rear).

I used the vin decoder and figured out the steering wheel. Finally, was the Sport Mode and Shiftable Automatic standard also? The vin decoder didnt say.
