A casual drive on the freeway today at 60mph for 30 miles yielded 46.5mpg from the trip computer. The gas gauge needle barely moved. I like!

22mpg so far, i would say 85% city.
driving it pretty much the same as my 2010 335i Xdrive 6AT-- i returned that car with a long term average of 17.2mpg |

It is relatively flat, although the 55-60mph probably helped quite a bit.

I average more than 40 mpg on my trips back and forth between NJ and NH, typically in Comfort mode. Speeds are between 65-75 mph, although my speed alarm is set for 86 mph and occasionally goes off. One of these trips, I'll have to try keeping the speed to 65 mph and really concentrate on maximizing economy. I just haven't had the patience to do it yet.
I've been very impressed with the 8-Speed 328i so far. I thought I would really miss my E39 540i/6, but I don't.

Don't trust your trip computer!!
Mine is 10% high-535i. My sister's is 10% high-328i. So trip computer says 40mpg really 36mpg. You have to compute when you fill up to know the real story! |

I trust the computer more than paper and pencil calculations based on an assumed full tank. Unless you can fill your tank up to the same level every time you can't really calculate mpg accurately on one tank. It would be accurate if you averaged over 3 or more tanks, though.
On my Camry I've hand calculated the mpg and concluded that the on-board computer is good enough. And it should be since they know how much fuel is metered in during operation and how many miles are travelled. |

Just drove 1009 miles from DC to FLA, 32.6 mpg. Not the 44.1 but alot better then 15.4 in my V8 Tundra. Yay for our side !

Recent trip from Long Beach to Santa Barbara, 108 miles pretty much all freeway (I405 then US101) gave me 37.5mpg. This was in eco pro mode, occasional medium traffic but mostly light traffic and roughly 70mph +/-. The engine is still breaking in, I'm just under 4K miles on it. Expect it to loosen up and give even better mileage later on.
