BMW oil-level sensors are notoriously sensitive and fidgety....as long as the level on the stick is normal, you have nothing to worry about. Try adding a bit more oil, like a half-cup to a cup, that should do the trick.

Hi, I have 2003 x5 3.0, 77k and I bought it a week ago and now I notice something new. After I drove it in the free way like 10-12 miles and when I stop the car I smell oil burning. This is the second time when I smell oil burning. I took it to the mechanic when i smell at first time and he couldn't find anything wrong but it happed again today. Is anyone knows why I smell oil burning when I stop the car?

You should post all technical questions to the X5 Forum.
