Ok, what about the new Q50?

Not bad looking. I've always liked the Infiniti's. I think the naming is very dumb though as someone said earlier. Too many uses of the letter Q in car branding, it gets confusing.

I know shock value has a purpose, but sheesh, that Q grill is just too much. Man that's "in your face". I don't see BMW going to those extremes to garner attention. Little tweaks here and there, an occasional new design feature, sure. To me, this is what makes BMWs attractive. Graceful evolution. Not some lab experiment mutation. And as others have said, the IS is "The Predator" on four wheels.

Cut them some slack...they were just trying to copy the old E90's double humps.

Why does this thing look like a Maxima, oh wait because it is a glorified Maxima even down to the engine. Quit50 looks like a good alternative to a Camry, Accord n Maxima.

You do know the Q50 is a RWD chassis and the Nissan cars are FWD don't you? Stop with the hate and embrace that the Q50 and the current G37 are in the same class as a 3 series. The only problem with the G37 is poor gas mileage and a slight lack of refinement. Better steering than the F30 by the way.

Please don't try to upsell an inferior boat. Having driven both my friends G37 coupe and sedan, it's steering is nothing compared to the E46 ZHP, plus the refinement is too much a lack off. On top of the poor gas mileage, it's weight rears it's ugly head in the driving dynamics department. The GT type of target market for this car doesn't fall close to the compact entry luxury category it's supposed to be in.

I do not mind the look of this car however the new name is stupid and the steer by wire system is very risky

You do know that this is the first production drive by wire steering available in a production car. Until its tested against the F30 no one can say if it's better of worse on any account. It was built to go head to head with the 3 series just as the ATS is, and personally I welcome the competition as this can only make BMW better. Do you think BMW is going to sit back and allow so called expert car review magazines to vote the ATS as the winner in every test written thus far? I can't wait for the G50 being declared the 3 series winner in the upcoming test this year! Sales ulmately prove the winner and so far the F30 is running away in that department.

Since I bought my E90 And will keep it for 6 to 10 years pending reliability, I am in the market to lease a loaded F30 because its nice to have new tech every 3 years. Since this will be my wife's car she needs to love it, so we will test drive many velhicles, but ultimately I know we will end up with an F30. Heck I still love my slow out dated E90 and my wife takes it every chance she gets.

CVT has taken over just about the entire non-luxury Velhicle offerings so that eliminates that right off the bat. Yes I have driven many variants and they all suck lol.

No, but the answer, at least in the near term, seems to be to introduce a less powerful version of the same car.

Everyone seems to agree the 3 series is getting softer, but many believe it is more than compensated by the more power and faster time of the 2.0T. Now they are all praising BMW for cutting that power down.

I am not saying BMW is wrong, the 320i can be a huge success, but not for reasons some of you want to argue, without looking like a hypocrite.

You think there are any brand new zhp e46s coming out of the factory and into showrooms for people to buy? Don't make irrelevant comparisons. The only BMW most q50 buyers will cross shop is the f30.

No offense, but in regards to "refinement", the current G37 (let alone this Q50) is head and shoulders above an e46 330zhp. It's much more powerful, faster, yet offers better fuel economy to boot. It's also safer, more comfortable, and technologically more advanced. That's how much technology has advanced and how much better the competition has gotten. Nevertheless, this is a moot comparison as previously mentioned. The G37 (and now this Q50) competes with the f30, and should be a worthy one (as well as the new IS). In terms of "value" alone, this car will capture a chunk of buyers from this segment (probably not as big as the f30), just like the current G37 has done so far. (Value being that per dollar, you get a bigger car, more features, reliability, etc compared to the f30.)

Why again do we care about a Nissan in a BMW forum? As BJ has said these non-factor competitors get more and more annoying considering they also look like crap. Why would you drive a Charger looking Nissan and an IS based on the Predator which is easily indistinguishable from the GS or ES.

As far as I'm concerned the only good Nissan is a GT-R R35 and it doesn't compete in this class.

It is sad bigger car becomes a selling point in this segment. Why can't those people just buy a BMW 5 or Infiniti M? Last I checked both are heavily discounted to the point they cost almost the same as the 3 and G, but with more status, room and comfort.

Not an irrelevant comparison. The second generation G, the G35, was specifically built to be an E46 3 Series killer. It did not succeed. I've driven the G35 and the G37 and neither of them succeeded in beating either the E46 or the E9x in driving dynamics.

I'd choose an E46 ZHP over a G37 any day. In fact, I did. At least the "G"s looked the part as far as being a competitor to the 3er. +1, most people did and still own their ZHPs. I've known people who have given up their G35s/37s/Zs especially in the 05-07 range due to the VQ engine quality issues- oil starvation especially.

So I wouldn't particularly call them reliable. I've never had to replace my engine in my ZHP.

E46, ZHP or not, is completely irrelevant to any discussion of a 2014 Infiniti Q50.

If I have to hear one more post about this stupid E46 ZHP I'm going to buy one and bring it to the crusher, have it transformed into a paperweight and shoot lots of video to post here.

It's a 10 year old used car. They're on Craigslist for $3,500. Everyone has to stop whining about this old rust bucket and either move onto another brand or buy a used one like everyone else.

You know, it isn't that bad looking. I don't think many BMW shoppers would switch, but I suspect it will sell just as well or better than the G.
