Unhappy Main Window controls in driver door won't work

I am having a problem with my windows/mirrors. The windows can be rolled down from each individual door except for the driver's side door. None of the controls on the door will work. This morning I replaced the driver's side headlight. Could I have messed something up in doing so or is it just a coincidence?

My drivers sport mirror motor shorted out which caused my driver window control to not work. it happened when I had trouble connecting the battery (don't ask). If I held the driver window control to go down it eventually did and same going up but you had to hold it for a long time.

There are a few posts about it. Disconnect the battery (dont close the hatch).
Take off the drivers door panel and disconnect the drivers mirror connection in the door. Then connect battery and test your window control. You may need to do this with the passenger side as well.
Don't run to the dealer and by a window switch until you know it does not work, they are $135 with discount.

As posted. First step, remove negative battery lead. Remove positive lead, touch the two together to remove any residual charge. Leave disconnected. Have one drink. Hook up positive lead, then hook up negative lead. See if this works.. If not go on to next step.

Remove small triangle part of plastic on the inside of the car where the mirror attaches to the car. Inside there is the white plug for the power mirror. I'm pretty sure its in there, if not you'll have to work on taking the mirror trim off from the outside. Either way when you find the white plug for the mirror unplug it. See if this fixes it. If so, its your mirror circuit.

I did both of these. Neither worked. Then I bought a new switch module and this fixed it. Going on a year now.

Where do you replace the switch module?

Thanks in advance...

It was the entire switch panel in the drivers door. I think it was just over $100 from http://www.tomkinsonbmwparts.com/

You'll have to look up the part number on realoem.com

This is from my receipt:

Items Ordered:
Item: , Window switch, x3, left, w/seat memory, w/o folding mirror
Price: $106.93
Tax: $0.00
Qty: 1
Total: $106.93

good luck.

Ah, so the whole door panel has to come out? I'm always hesitant to do that, considering i could crack the wood panel. I suppose I need to buy a kit for door panel removal. Never done it before.

no, the switch panel pops out of the door, then unplugs. it takes a bit of work to get the old switches out, but if they break you've got a new one anyways.

this is the piece im talking about...

guys...i've seemed to try all that. still not working on mine. one think i noticed is that at night, the master switch would still light up, so i assume theres still power going to the switch, but why wouldn't it be working. like i said, i've tried disconnecting the mirror motor also.
