What I am not a fan of and simply can't get my head around is this fetish for black wheels. I don't get it. BMW makes some of the nicest wheels in the business and they work very hard on the level of chrome contrast along with the flame surfacing. So when you go matte it kills the flame surfacing and all its great color gradient and then you black out the wheels which kills the chrome contrast.

Why?

BJ
Chris Bangle and 'flame surfacing' have left BMW many years ago. I don't believe it was a secret.

And, I can't think of another manufacturer that uses more frozen or matte finishes for special editions than BMW. As for "chrome contrast", I've no idea what you're on about.

As you can not, pardon the pun, wrap your head around why people do what they do, I can't wrap my head why you make some of the posts you do.

I think it looks amazing.

To everyone that doesn't like it: Unless you paid for or are paying for the car, your opinion is irrelevant(;

I think that looks amazing. And the best part is it's reversible!
I've seen matte black wraps (or black carbon fiber) a lot before, but never a color.

Did they say you could use a spray detailer to clean the car? I was wondering how to keep the surface looking good?

Your car does look good!
Just so you're aware, the pre-cut 3M Bras still do get trimmed, VERY VERY slightly though.

He came to my door and did it in my garage. He called and confirmed which model I had exactly because it was all pre-cut.

I watched the guy do it, he pulled it up and made minimal adjustments each time. No razor blade cut my car, Id have flipped... He was meticulous, the job was as close to perfect as a person could have done.

Looks super clean. I was thinking a matte silver on my M-sport would be pretty nice. However I was just at the Benz dealer and was not impressed by whomever does their wraps. Looked super sloppy around the edges.

I was really liking what you did with the wrap, but you lost me when you went to the black wheels. Looks like you put on a spare tire.

I am just wondering when you do remove it how the sun effects the glue and how hard that is to get off the paint. Love the matte look but would be scared to peal it off after a couple years.

The car has been wrapped for 6 months now. I'm very happy with what they did. They teaches me how to clean an maintain it and it looks good as new.

I had my previous car wrapped by them as well, A matte dark gray color. The car was wrapped for two years and then I removed te wrap. Of course I did a complete detail on it because of some left over glue from the vinyl, but overall nothing happens to the paint. Of course my paint was in pretty good condition before the wrap, so as long your paint is I'm good condition I guess demoing the vinyl shouldn't be an issue.

Hope this help answering your question.

Very nice! You should do a new wrap, in a different color, every month! New wheels too!

I like it except that the racing stripe and the red roundel may have taken it over the top.

How is the wrap holding up?

I found the wrap too plain so I decided to so the performance stripes.

The vinyl is holdin up pretty good after months.

Does it get scratched washing it, etc. And, do you use a spray detailer to keep it protected or?

I don't see why it will get scratched when is tacking a bath haha. Well I use spray Detailer only on the lossy black roof and the stripes. Everything else I wash it with baby shampo an a microfiber towel.

I guess I'm thinking of something like flat paint that scratches easily. How do you get stuff off like road tar, etc?

I really like the black roof and wheels contrast with the red.

That is totally awesome color! I would highly recommend this to someone with an older car that 1) too many chips, or 2) they want a change.

I while back I saw a hot M3 that had some custom accents. It was black, but with rust orange in certain spots, and one of them was on ONE of the spokes for each tire. It was subtle. So when you powder coat your rims, consider just giving that orange to one of the spokes?

BMW is starting to sell theirs with these racing strips. I was at one of the dealerships and you can get one of three types. Centered, off-center (like the OP), and then in the ///M tri-colors. I wasn't a fan of it in the shop, but I think the OP decided well for his ride. I think the OP should give BMW some pointers

That looks great! I love everything; the wheels, the wrap, and the roof. It looks so mean in that second shot from the front. Well done.
