Temp. Control Problem

I need some help fixing my 01 Z3 Temp Control. I believe the something broke on the temp control dial because the knob was sticking and I got frustrated and over torgued it. All I get is cold air now, I cannot increase the temp. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on accessing the back of the temp. control knobs. I figured out how to get the radio out for access, now I need to know how to repair the problem. The dealer said it would cost 2K to fix, are they crazy???

Steve

Then once you fix the back of the dial, the fix for the stickiness is here. It starts at post 11.
