DSP amp
Hello all, my DSP amp stopped working the other day. I started the car radio on and loud, shut the door and some static in the speakers and off it went. After some search here i disconnected the battery and touched the poles together, the amp worked for a few minutes then went dead again. I disconnected the battery again but still no sound
Any way trying to fix the amp did not work out , 2 tryed to fix it and could not, And NO it was not water damage. Trying out used amps some didnot work at all, some worked for 30 sec and turned off and some worked but the DSP button in the dash did not com on After talking to several indys all said that pre 2000 models does not need coding for the amp to work? Long story short,I found one that did everything, the guy wanted 200 for it and would not go down a cent. The funny thing is that he told me latter that the same amp was tried on an X5 and did not work at all.

Hi,
If you *must* keep the oem audio setup then you need to find a working DSP amplifier that's compatible with the build date of your car. Check on realoem for the amplifier part number and any other's which are compatible. Then keep searching ebay, craigslist, bmw forum classifieds for a DSP amplifier with part numbers that are compatible. If you find one/some, then you need to purchase and get them delivered to you and then connect up. Assuming the one you buy is indeed working, you then need to hope it continues to keep working as the module you get is likely to be around 15-16 years old! Cheers, Dennis! |
