Alright guys, I had a question about the 11 535i

Im new to the forum but Ive been in the market for a 2011 535i mSport. I finally found one in my price range but something doesnt seem right with the instrumental panel. The one ive found is a 2011 535i xdrive Msport but the instrumental panel is red in the pictures shown. Is this normal for the 2011? Every other 535i Ive found has the crisp clear panel with the white numbers and letters. Is there a specific package that I need for the crisp panel or are all the 2011 535i's have the same instrumental panel?

here is the actual picture they have posted. Did they just put the wrong picture on their site? I mean the other pics are def. a 2011 body style. Just this picture throws me off.

Stay away from any 2011 built before March 2011.

I have heard avoid vehicles previous to September 2010 build date. Well, my April 2011 build date F10 has no major issues that wasn't resolved with an update. The tip-in is sporadic and not too frequent .

Mine was build date 4/6/11. Out of curiosity, what was wrong with 2011's built before March?

Just read all the posts Needs made the last 24 months.
That will sum it up nicely.
And you could read Solstice lemon saga starting somewhere end 2010.

Cars built early had issues.

In September 2010 they upgraded the media controller to COMBOX. Big upgrade.

In February 2011 there were more software / CAN upgrades. Forget what they were exactly.

Thank you, Needsdecaf, that makes some sense as to the fact that major revisions were accomplished to the F10's prior to March 2011.

As mentioned previously, I too have a 4/6/11 built 535i 6 speed which seems to be without issues... purring like a Bavarian kitten. My nephew has a '09 335i buy back with seemingly unfixable turbo/engine failure problems he wishes to replace with a F10 535 or 550i & I wanted to memorialize the build date consideration for his attention.

FYI Alpine300ZHP & Other 6MT Devotees,

I just installed an M5 lighted shift knob in my F10 535... pretty easy install... even the wiring.

I have also determined that UUC is designing a short shift linkage for the F10 535i's which should be available shortly (no pun intended) and I will be installing in my vehicle, as well.

Cheers!
