09 335 xdrive turbo issue
After the check engine light came on in my car yesterday, I took the car to the BMW dealership and was there for 3.5 hrs. the service manager told me that it's a turbo issue, so I ended up getting a loaner car, I'm not sure if the issue will be fixed by tomorrow or not. THANK GOD I still have factory warranty but it sucks to be having a turbo problem after having the car 17 days. has anyone ever heard of 335 that's not 4 years old with 46k miles to have a turbo issue???

-CAL, as of yesterday the last thing they told me was that it was a turbo issue and most likely they were going to have to keep the car overnight. from that point on they didn't elaborate what the actual problem was, at that time they were still trying to find the exact problem i assume, i will be hearing from them this morning for further updates.

There have been some reports of turbo issues, but not many. You don't know what the specific turbo issue is yet, but there's things the prior owner may have done that could have shortened the life of the turbos. The first thing that comes to mind is doing hard accelerations / high RPM runs before the engine is warmed up, which can do unpleasant things to turbos.
Sure, the turbos are expensive to replace if they go bad, so it becomes a concern on these engines as they age. Still, it doesn't dissuade a whole lot of us from owning them. Best regards, George
