FYI. Enhanced premium sound for 13's

I just added this to my build for a 2013 X5D.

After searching the forums it looked like this was a $2K option. My CA said they changed it for this year and now it is MSRP $1650. Wholesale around 1500. This $ is not in addition to the premium sound option but replaces it. In other words, you don't pay the $950 and then the $1650. It is just $1650 over the standard sound.

It is option code 752 EPS Enhanced premium sound.

Rats! Missed that one.

So what exactly does enhanced premium sound offer above premium sound?

You need to add Sat Radio if you want it and order enhanced premium sound. The premium sound package includes it, but when your order it separately, it only replaces the Premium Hi-Fi System (677) and not the entire Premium Sound Package (ZPS). Make sure you order option 655 if you want Sat Radio as well.

This option has been getting more coverage lately, glad to see others get the chance to order it, I didn't know about it until after I had already taken delivery of mine. With its rarity, it would be hard to compare it to ZPS so you won't get many comparo threads unfortunately.

So if I have the math right, Enhanced Premium Sound with Sirius is $2,000 ($1,650 plus $350) vs Premium Sound Package (which includes Sirius) at $950. So question remains, other than the word Enhanced, what does one actually get that is worth $1,050? Placing an order in a few weeks for a 2013 35d to replace my existing 2010 35d and just trying to understand all my choices/options.

I was not informed of the SAT being additional $$. I will have to call my CA and confirm. My X5 is the first time the GM has ever ordered 752 and was not even aware that it was an option until I asked about it.

They lowered the price of the ZPS for the 2013 model year from $1500 to $950. The reason they did this is they made the regular Hi-Fi system the standard again instead of the lower end business system which was standard for the 2012 model year.

Premium Hi-Fi and Enhanced Premium Hi-Fi have the same number of speakers, it's just the Enhanced has different drivers and more powerful amp. The grills are silver for the Enhanced IIRC, they're just black if you have the Premium.

By the way I had another pertinent question
I have the exact same equalizer settings that I got from this forum in both my 12 535 w premium and 12 Msport X5
And it doesn't nearly sound as good in the X5
1. Are these the wrong setting for a truck w diff acoustics
2. Does the equaliser have an effect wether surround sound is click on or off ?
3. Can anyone provide better of different setting for the equaliser in the x that they like

I would suggest calling your local BMW dealer! They should know, although mine did not and he had to call his rep to check and see about the EPS.

Here's the individual catalog for the X5, so far the only thing people have been able to get in the US that I know of is option 752. I tried to order an individual color and couldn't get it.

I've been fiddling and reading up on frequencies. This page is great.

... and am now using this. It might look weird with the low bass but it sounds much closer to my high end headphones.

Try it for a day.

Treble +5 (or +4)
Bass 0 (or +1 for some albums)
Surround off

100Hz -2
200Hz -3
500Hz 0
1KHz +2
2KHz +1
5KHz +2
10KHz +3

I know this looks bass light, but 200Hz is actually the low end of the human voice and it's where a lot of muffled congestion arises in this system in my view. It's tuned really bass heavy to start with.
