That's why I wanted to know if these aftermarket replacements will give that "aftermarket" look at night. |

Any update on the DTEC V2s? I would like to purchase a set if they are working error free now.

I'm thinking about ordering these lights but just wanted to know if the guys who were having issues have had their issues resolved?

OK So I've waited awhile before I posted since I wanted to give Mtec a chance to see if they could correct the issue but I am sorry to say I'm getting errors on both lights and they are not as bright as most of you would like them to be.
When I first got them I only got an error on one side so they sent me a replacement and then all was fine for about a week. I then started to get errors for both sides. These are the new ones also so I don't think this is the way to go...atleast it's not for my car. |

New to the forum
As a longtime Mercedes driver, I figured it was time to try on a BMW for size and got ourselves a new 2012 BMW 750 Li X Drive
to replace our aging S-Class.It's a fun car and I am overall very happy with the choice, but like many of you don't care for the yellow angel eye look. I had seen many 5 series and X3/X5's with bright LED angel eyes and thought at first that I must have had a wrong setting on ours, given that they were so yellow/dim. That said, reading all these posts on replacement lights, I am still not clear which path to take or what even works. Perhaps somebody here can help me. I am looking to simply match the OEM look of a X3/5 series. Not brighter, not bluer. Something safe that doesn't melt anything or throw errors. Seems like many prefer the angel eyes to be much brighter. That's not important to me. OWM color (7K?) and brightness will do.. Don't care for HID install though. Is there a LED or other bulb that is of high quality, that will just work? Thank you for any insights! Wolfman |

I ordered the same LED kit beamlord installed on his car (btw, thanks for all your help) which I received today. The install was simple but what a difference a pair of bulbs make. I've very impressed with the lights and best part is there's no error codes!
Here's a few pics I posted over on the other forum; Stock: ![]() ![]() LED: ![]() ![]()

I am still fokin amazed that BMW did nit see fit to begin using LEDs on their Flagship model 7 Series??? I means It's "common sense". I mean they did the exact opposite: 3's, 5's, 6's then the 7.... WTF? Just one more mod I have to do when I snag my 10' ///M Sport F01 soon... BigMarcus ~ EVO 4G LTE

So some bad news....I decided to remove the bulbs because the bulbs aren't bright enough as DRL's. Sucks but it looks like the only real fix to get LEDs is going down the OEM route. If anyone wants to buy the bulbs off me just PM me.

Didn't see it in earlier posts but has anyone tried to just retrofit the LED AE bulbs out of an F10? |

In the sun you can barely make out the angel eyes, when you get a bit of shade you can make them out. I believe someone explained it's the color of the bulbs and that's the reason why they wash out when it's bright out.

Anyway, it's a matter of personal choice of course. The LED's are absolutely beautiful at dusk/dawn, on rainy days, in the shade. But they're barely visible in sunlight on a bright day. So one has to choose what's best for his car.

Here's what the LCI lights look like during the day;

Since both are LED it can only translate into wattage or efficiency of the light transmission into the rings (as it seems that the F10 has a different design with the LED's placed at the bottom of the AE's). Why can't the F10 light output simply be replicated with LED? I would really like to find a good LED solution as it seems that the AlpineMSS HID setup is causing all kinds of problems. Hoping for a solution that you can install and forget. Wolfman Last edited by Wolfman64; 09-13-2012 at 09:26 AM. |

I believe the halo rings are designed differently in the LCI headlamp housings so maybe that's why the light is projected much brighter.
The issue with the AlpineMSS is basically it's a HID bulb and not an actual LED bulb so not only does it run hot but overtime your rings and housing might turn yellow from all the heat that it generates. I know owners of other models with this kit have had concerns about the heat.

Obviously, if your light source is bright enough, you will see it fine in the daylight even if it has the same Kelvin number as daylight.

Buyer Beware
His bulbs are VERY dim, he hasn't posted pictures of his own product in direct sunlight. It was someone who bought them posted some pictures and you can't really tell the AE's are even on.
