DTC, Parking brake, ABS and power socket problems
Hi folks. I'm having problems with my 2008 730Li. My DTC, ABS lights are on and I'm getting a warning that my parking brake is faulty. I've no power to any power sockets. I've checked the fuses and they're all ok. Is there a relay I should check, and if so can anyone tell me where to find it?
I bought a Maxiscan OBD11 code reader, but no faults are showing up. All these problems have occurred over the past week, and I'm at my wits end with it. Any ideas? Thanks Last edited by Hutch911; 01-07-2013 at 12:20 PM. Reason: Posted a pic of my 730Li |

DTC, Parking brake, ABS and power socket problem
Hi again, hooked the car to an Omicheck scanner. Got a DTC on the parking brake "Hydraulic DSC" and a code 6044. This seems to point to the speed sensors. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks. |

I dunno what the "speed sensors" are but their is a main DTC/DCS/ABS unit in the engine bay that controls everything to best of my knowledge. I have a DTC light on as well and will be looking into it in the next few weeks.

You might need to take a look at your ABS module.

Is there any way I can test it out? These three light came on all together after I changed the battery last week. The shop said the regestered it when installed.

Well if you have yet to register your battery to the car then start there. That can very well be the main culprit to your problem.

As for testing the ABS module, I don't know other than swapping modules with someone. Its not hard to remove the module either. I know a guy in L.A who can rebuild yours possibly or get you a re manufactured one with 1 yr warranty if you don't want to sends your to model masters.

You might try searching the word trifecta. That's when the DSC, ABS, and Brake warning (yellow)lights go on at the same time. I have an E39 with that problem and as soon as the weather is a little warmer I might look at the speed sensors in the rear. Cost for one is about 105.00 ea for mine so for a hundred bucks I may throw one on after checking the old ones for grease, dirt, etc.

DTC, Parking brake, ABS and power socket problems
Checked the hidden menu fault list today and found this. Anyone know what the code means?
Still cant trace the fault with the auxiliary power sockets. Last edited by Hutch911; 01-16-2013 at 03:35 PM. Reason: pic didn't post |

Hey bud just a bit of a heads up. I had the ABS TCS and PARK brake malfuntion. Turned out to be my R/R speed sensor.
As for the power sockets not working I would say fuse, that's all they are driven off of. Other than that....no idea

DTC, Parking brake, ABS and power socket problems
Just back from an indy specialist. All faults cleared, the ABS system needed recalibrated.
![]() Looks like I caused the problem myself by pulling the wrong fuse when checking out the power socket problem. Top marks to Barry at BJF Performance Tuning, Clydebank. Sorted me out and didn't charge me a small fortune. Still got power socket issues, but hey, thats a minor issue compared to the ABS system faults. |
