Steering Column Exit Setting
I have a 2004 745il and when I turn the ignition off, the steering column comes down, and to a point where I have to raise it back up to get out of the car. I tried resetting my set settings but nothing seems to work. I reviewed the owners manual and it didn't say anything about this. It did say that I can set it to get the steering out of the way but nothing on how to stop it getting in the way. It's driving me crazy! Thanks, guys!

Although not a solution I have had the exact same problem.....
I tried all sorts of faffing about with INPA and fuses and disconnecting the battery and googling and TIS and RealOEM and never found a solution..... By luck I switched the ignition on and off quickly weeks after the problems arose and it sorted itself. I previously posted on Bfest here and on a more UK centric site here Good luck...

Thank you, sir! I tried your ignition trick but it didn't work. I also tried to use my spare key, since I've been told that the keys hold a lot of information. This didn't work either. Perhaps this problem will go away eventually.

Sadly I can't remember the exact process that I used....it was a total fluke.
But it would have been after the wipers had stopped mid sweep on the windscreen... I would have pressed the on off button quickly just to power cycle the ignition. Sorry I can't be more enlightening
