From the way back machine: A scan of an old snap of my very first car circa 1983. 1970 Cougar XR-7 351 4V Cleveland, that got about 9 miles a gallon on a good day! I loved that car, and REALLY wish I still had it. Pop up headlights, sequential turn signals, green leather interior, and a black vinyl top. Stylin!

So I decided to keep my GTI instead of trading it in on the X1 that I am patiently (?) waiting to order (waiting on my2014). The question then was how to get to Santa Barbara from the bay area when the car finally arrives. Being partly disabled, airports and flying are a huge PITA for me, so when the time comes, I'm taking the train. Yeah, it takes a long time, but I don't mind, and they sell beer on board!

Of course, I now have to wait....and wait. Nothing to do in the mean time but keep reading forums and go out and take pictures (oh, that and that job thing too!). This is Amtrak's California Zephyr heading east toward Reno NV coming down off Donner Pass.

Nice capture! I love making the run to the Amtrak station...

Thanks Jon, I look forward to the day! I spent yesterday superstitiously casing X1's at some local dealers. Their own websites didn't even have the colors right, but one of them did have the wood trim and black leather with the gray brown piping on my spec sheet. It was very nice, and it was cool to see it in person. Now I am even more impatient.

On the other hand, I've taken a few hundred photos over the weekend that I need to get at in Photoshop, so maybe that will take my mind of cars for a bit!

Took this shot Friday morning at the San Luis NWR near Los Banos. Tule Elk, native only to California

Haven't posted much here but wanted to throw a "snapshot" favorite of mine from the past few months. Great pics last few pages. Love Haleakala Sunrise, beautiful shot man!

This one is called Sunrise of Fire, taken in Boulder, Colorado on a short business trip.

Very nice BIF. Like the Amtrak shot too. I can't usually see pics cause FlickR is blocked at work.
