Problems

Hello, fellow forum members
Here in Toronto, Ontario, its been pretty cold the last few days. I am experiencing some problems with my car. Some happening for quite a long time and anothers starting with the cold spell.

1. Rough idle, at idle my car will settle just below 1000rpm, and would sometimes go just over the 500rpm tick park, and had times I notice my idle guage moving up and down slighly.

2. At idle, i hear screeching sound coming from the engine, it all started since i got my oil change a few days ago. Right after the oil change, my mechanic starts up the car and noticing a very loud screeching sound, which went away, and now its not as bad as before but I can hear a little pitch.

3. In the morning, especially my needle takes about 10-15 minutes to come up to the middle mark. I hear/feel a jerk when coming to a stop, and when I turn on my heat, it doesn't work until well after the guage has gone to middle and i start feeling a little hot air.
Meaning of hot air, my car doesn't warm up that could either, it still fairly cold setting it on 'Auto' and at 20 degress centigrade, and i even set it on 32 degress and no change, and the I have the lever set on hot with the three dots. I did get the thermostat replaced a few months ago, when the engine light came on, but still have these issues and once the coolant guage gets on the middle, it doesn't move, which tells me the Thermostat is fine.

1 check idle control valve. Clean it good with throttle body cleaner. The rest is most likely just cold. Drove the car for 30 mins and it will all go back to normal. A rough downshift into 2nd for the autos is not uncommon when cold. If it still happens when warm consider changing trans fluid. The condition of my auto trans fluid when removed was horrible it is not "lifetime" as they say.

I'd suggest you start here:
