Exclamation Blower resistor issues!!!!

I have a 95 325i and have been having the common issue of a blower that only runs on the high setting. I recently purchased a new blower resistor after reading various information online that points to this fix. Last night I swapped in the new resistor and GREAT, the blower now works on all settings. Then, this morning I started the car to warm it up(Wisconsin has been cold lately) and I am back to the same old issue of the blower only working on the "4" setting. Does anybody have any advice on what might be causing this problem? I have a replacement resistor being sent to me now however I don't want to have another one burn out on me. I did notice a slight "burning" scent this morning. Is there another component that may be shorting out the resistor.
