Clunking sound
I have a 2003 745 I which I purchased new. I've had a small laundry list of problems over the years but now that it's out of warranty there's one thing that concerns me. There seems to be a clunking sound when I put it in gear either reverse or drive. I have had the Geebo replaced And the sound is still here. The dealership doesn't know what it is. Can anybody help. It only clunks when I put it in gear from Park

They say Its normal when on an incline, at least on most 7 series for some reason. It happens to me every once in a while.

Thank u that makes sense but it does it on any surface even flat ones. It feels as if the tranny has back pressure that releases when I try to engage it into gear.

My car does it also about 50% of the time. No issue found either. I just press on the brake a little harder and that seems to help...

I took it and spoke to service director and had him in the car with me... he says its the brakes sticking to rotors and when the car moves forward or back rocks the caliper and when it cant move any further it stops and makes that metal on metal clunking sound... i said
.... it only happens when the car is cold, but it is embarrassing to say the least to have a 100k car make this sound that echoes through the parking lot, i must say..To me is sounds like the driveshaft at the rear diff.... or possibly at tranny... but definitely rear-half of the car... i say this because even if I am ON the brakes and the ebrake is on and the DOES NOT rock or anything I still get that noise... well at least I am not the only one
