LCI Headlights - inner projector
Just wondering what the purpose of the inner projector is on my car.
Since I have xenons, the outer ones are used for high beams and flash to pass. Are the inner projectors just empty then?

They're for side illumination when you signal L or R at slower speeds. They also light up simultaneously when in R (still don't understand the reasoning behind front illumination in R when you should be looking out the back window).

That doesn't happen on my car, my X5 has that feature though. Is it something that can be activated?

I'm pretty sure the inner ones are for flash to pass
The outer is for low and continuous high beam. multiple On/Off of xenon lights can make the bulb not last as long |

The inner projectors turn on when you're making a turn to illuminate the inside of the turn even more. BMW calls them cornering lights.

On the X5, the fog lights turn on. The inner light is what illuminates the halo's.

They're also called cornering lights. They basically turn on when you turn your steering wheel to the left or right to give you an extra angle of light.

But they don't. Is this feature standard?

Yes, if you have the adaptive headlight function and the Bi-xenon headlamps.
The headlight switch must be in the automatic position for the feature to work. |
