750 sound system sucks!

My 2010 750 w/premium sound sounds like crap. My wife's X5 sounds 100 times better. Anyone else has this problem ?

Yes, not the best I've experienced or the worst. I think a search here will reveal that this topic is one of the most discussed issues regarding the F01/02 cars. Personally, I think there are more net positives regarding the 7 Series than negatives...the Premium sound system, though, leaves something more to be desired. One tip: turn off the surround feature and make good use of the EQ.

Compared to my last S550 and the A8 prior the 7 is inferior. In fact, I am often surprised when I have a mid size rental with better sound (think the last was a Malibu ).

Is this a general assessment of the car of just the sound system?

Are you guys kidding or what or just like to stir the pot about something. My 2010 750Li with premium sound is off the hook. I am so impressed with the sound. It is amazing and I couldn't imagine anything much better. The CD's sound awesome when playing, Enya, Enigma and some opera. I have no Idea what you guys are talking about. Have you gone and Bumped your Head. Seriously!

No they are right -

I've owned many different BMW's through the years and the 7 series L7 system is pretty bland comparatively. I think it probably comes down to size - a few years ago I had an E60 550i with L7 and I was more than impressed with the sound, my F02 makes me wonder if all the speakers are actually working sometimes. My E92 with L7 blows away all the others...so maybe it's just underpowered for such a massive car.

It's not exactly on the same level as the Burmester in the Pana.....but it also isn't a $6K option.

Just curious..what year do you have? Im in the process of ordering a 750Li and Im getting the executive package which comes with premium sound. Are the 2013 models any better?

Mine is 2010. 2013 has the same sound system unless you order Bang & Olufsen (optional).

my hyundai genesis 2009 had much better sound than my 2012 bmw 750li. its sad, you would think for the money they would have better sound.

Not really though. The Genesis sound is nowhere close to as good as the sound in my X5....and our 750 is far better than that. I've had the Genesis for a rental a couple times and test drove an R-spec last week. First thing I did was crank the stereo and it was brutally disappointing compared to either of our Bimmers.

How to make good use of the EQ.. Tell me what's your combination ?!

Try these EQ settings. My teen nephew along with his friends chose the settings. I haven't had a complaint since then. I do agree with Leslierc that with the surround sound 'off' you may enjoy your system more. I have the premium sound system too (F02/2012).

Don't be afraid to trust your ear. Play tunes you like and adjust the EQ settings during play...listen, and for each setting when you like what you're hearing move on to the next and repeat, and so forth.

What Treble and Bass settings do you use while using these EQ settings?

Mine is very similar although my middle one (1k) is raised up higher....otherwise it does help dramatically from a very poor default.

Have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I owned the 2009 Genesis for 3 years and the sound system was incredible. My favorite test was to put Ludicrous 'go low' CD in and turn it way up. On the genesis it was super clear and loud all the way down to the lowest where as my 2012 750li distorts badly from just half way down.

I have overhauled most of my previous cars entire systems usually 5-7K systems. I didnt want to do full system this time so I just added jl Cleansweep and signal summing with 2 JL 10w6's and JL HD750, left everything else inside stock and it sounds amazing. All in about 2500.00 Point....just add some bass.

I build the trunk out myself though...prob saved about a G

I came from an e66 and think the sound is amazing. I had a genesis rental and think it was similar but nothing fantastic by any means
