Pfffffft! If you had said BBS RS, Alpina or ACS this would have made sense, but Borbet type As? Not hating, but you do realize that you are comparing a $800 set of wheels to a $4500 set of wheels?
.....Oh well, different strokes I guess. So here's mine in the daylight (with photo hacked covers painted on). Still haven't got the correct lugbolts, so the covers are still off in real life. ![]() ![]() supercharger install 047.5 by Gixxerboy63, on Flickr |

Yes I am aware of the price difference, but that doesn't sway my opinion. using your figures, are three piece Hartges 6 time better than Borbet type A's and therefore worth 6 times the investment? to me, no. but i do like hartges! i just wont own them. even three piece AC Schnitzers and an AC Schnitzer steering wheel, i really want for my touring, but i will never buy them because they are WAY overpriced for what they are which counts me out.
hope this helps explain where im coming from

I assumed that you were basing your opinion on appearance alone without any regard to cost or other benefits..... So given the choice of Borbets or Hartge's, without having to fork out the added cost for the latter and you would still go for the Borbets?

Hmm i can see your point, only because your project is almost complete and not needing much else. So dropping 4500 on a set of rollers isn't a big deal. Regardless of function the exclusivity or the sticker price shock value is the icing on the cake. The wheels are nice. And about time you put them on the car But I see Andy's point as well. My point. Find a set a hartge 3 pcs around the same price point of my 18 inch 58 stgrds and I'd go with the hartges too. Most look at it from a Cost and function vs. the average budget of a current e34 owner. Not everyone's going to jump. Being that most of these rare wheels in circulation are refurbished. The price is determined by how much someone would pay for it. 4500 is another e34 if not a M5 in some situations. So to each his own. And Happy hunting.

As far as style and such. I don't think he's making that argument. Eitherway Gxsr they look good. Glad you finally mounted them on the car.

Mine BMW
Hi there,
as i own this car only for couple of days I barely did some work on it, but I'm happy that I have something to start with. This old guy has 303 000 km mileage but still in very good shape and condition. So far, for the start, there is new original turbo fitted last summer, engine went trough a small service, plenty of bodywork was done for the bottom as it was rusty... a lot of parts was taken from another E34 TDS. This car has a little bit interesting story: I don't know nothing about first owner, but second one had this car for years. But few years ago, he has been arrested for something and get to jail. This car ended at my friend's place, where he has also small, family, car service. For years, it was just standing there, hidden under roof. Year ago, my friend had crash with his own car, so he wanted something to drive while his car is being repaired. He then took this E34 and did a lot of work on it. Now i bought it from him, as his own car is working... just only after i heard that sound, I said: If diesel, only this one. This car features standard 525TDS 105kW engine, it was made in 1991 and now it has: Rear electric window heating, heated mirrors, electrical mirrors, digital clock + termometer, electronic sunroof, electronic front seats heating, dimming dashboard, front electric windows, angel-eyes, remote locks, central locking with luggage doors connected.... |

I also have a friend that has an E36 325TDS, believed to be one of only two in my country. And have only ever heard of one E34 525TDS here and it was even a Touring! No dealer history of it though so must have been imported. Sorry, i get a little exited when late 80s early 90s diesel BMWs show up.

It's M51, and they are not that rare in our country, as we are German's neighbors

1994 530i...don't sleep on her! She eats gravel for breakfast.
I am the 3rd owner. Bought from my dad after 10 years or so (he had 3 cars and decided to unload one). He bought from his homegirl (senior lady). Engine was replaced once (now has 138K total). She put on the rims. I'm just reaping the rewards of their diligence. I want angel eyes, better tint and deeper dish 5-star rims from 7-series (late 90s). Maybe drop it a bit, but not too crazy. And that's it, for now.
