Does $500 over invoce for an ED sound like a good deal?

Guys:
In the market for financing a new 2013 335i for ED. Used BMWconfig to price it out (imp blue, luxury line, saddle brwn leather, burl wood int, prm pck, tech pck, htd seats). The MSRP and the invoice for my config came out to be $48825 and $44915 respectively. Armed with the config report, I contacted about ~8 BMW dealers in my area (metro Washington dc) and 4 of them got back to me with an offer of 500 over invoice ($45415). From reading the posts, it seems like a good offer but I feel that there is room to go down further since it was all done through email and honestly I did not even start any negotiation. Is this a good deal and has anybody had any experience doing ED (or US delivery) at or below invoice? All the dealers have agreed to give me a $750 rebate on top of the "500 over invoice offer" as a current BMW owner
Thanks,
J

IMHO $500 over invoice before any rebates is an excellent price. You may be able to do a little better since you received that quote from 4 different dealers. By playing them off against each other you may eventually bring that price down by a few hundred but I believe you will quickly get to a point of diminishing returns of effort and heartburn vs. savings. My philosophy has been that the dealership deserves a reasonable profit on their product so I was happy with $500 over invoice and did not need to squeeze every last ounce of blood out of them.

Hey I've been shopping around for a 328i and I found some new 2012s are still available. How much below invoice should I expect pay? I found 1 priced about $300 below invoice. Just wondering if can I do any better, considering we're in 2013 and this is basically a stripped down no line 328i. I'm also a USAA member which is showing a $1500 incentive on the F30, can that be applied after a negotiated price if its below invoice?

You can use Edmund's TMV as a guide.

Do these discounts apply to vehicles you have in stock, or only to special orders? I ask because within the next two, three weeks, we'll be looking to replace our e39 wagon. A trip up to Santa Barbara would be icing on the cake.

It's not in your immediate area, but maybe you can use this price to get them down a little further. Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville, IL sold a 13 335i coupe for $42,385 per voiceofthedriver.com

Ah, I didn't catch the E92/F92 reference. I guess the reported price wasn't so helpful after all, lol.

Leasing 328i in NY/NJ/CT area

My friend is looking to lease a 328i in NY/NJ/CT area for 36 months. Any bimmerfest specials in that area. See attachment. How much would be the invoice price and monthly lease?

Thanks.

I am back to bimmerfest.org after a long absence. Blame it on the E-46 2001 325i I bought new from Jon on an internet special arrangement more than 12 years ago. Jon was great, he was able to get me a car to my weird specifications. Manual transmission, sport package, no sunroof, special cloth seats, rear retractable sunscreens. Blame it on the E-46, yes because of my satisfaction with the car. I still have it; it is my primary drive and I love it. I live in Davis, in northern California and it it was well worth the trip down to SB and the fun-filled drive back. The normal BMW dealers I spoke to would not order a car like that at all. Said if I walked on it they would be stuck with an car they could not sell. Jon knew I was a bimmerfest enthusiast and did not even bat an eyelash over my weird order. Great that Jon is around and understands.

I am now eyeballing and thinking about a 328d although a 320d is more what I had in mind. I am not cheap, I just don't like all those fancy extras like electric seats and I would surely like to see a special order for cloth seats again. They have held up well on my car, are comfortable, hold onto you in spirited driving and they stay much cooler in the Valley heat than do leather(ete) seats. I had a chance to drive in a 2001 German 320d wagon while visiting a friend in Munich a few years ago. I was quite impressed with the quietness and the drivability. It felt pretty much like my 325i. And, the fuel economy was excellent which is getting to be very important these days for many reasons.

So you're the mysterious buyer who got the cloth seats...have heard about that one for a while but didn't know who it was for.

How did you get to SB?

Don't feel bad. The 328d is really just the 320d rebadged. They gave it the different moniker so they can price it above the 328i.

Not really.

The 328d comes with stuff I don't want. Namely, automatic transmission, (no manual offered) power seats, auto dimming lights, auto windshield wipers and other similar that are options on the European 320d. Not options here. I gotta take them even if I don't want them. At least The sun roof is an option. I really don't want that.

I flew down from smf by way of sfo. Was cheap back then.

I Was under the impression that a few others got cloth seats at the time from Jon. I don't think I was the only one.

I can appreciate that. I was just pointing out that the power train is the same. Badging usually reflects the engine. With the 328d BMW has abandoned that as the exact same 2.0l 4-pot powertrain is badged a 320d everywhere else.

The main reason is because in Europe they also offer the more powerful 330d and here they want the 328d to be associated with the higher trim line 328 rather than the very basic 320i.

Yes, but I want to start with the "very basic" 320d and add on only what I want and nothing more.

I appreciate that the 328d here is just the 320d as in europe but with a lot of "luxury" items added that don't interest me.

Hi zx9,
1. how much did u pay for the 2013?
2. Did u do a euro delivery?
3. Did u get below invoice?
4. And did u bring up the usaa disc after u were able to negotiate your purchase price, thus bringing it further below invoice?
5. What requirements did they ask from u as a proof of usaa membership? I'm planning to join usaa and open a checking account. I was told I can join even if I'm not in the military. Do u think I will still get the discount?

Sorry, too many q's. will greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks
