No heat! Please help a girl with no mechanic experience!!

So my seats will stay heated and warm air comes out of defrost....no coolant leaking, temperature not overheating....but no heat coming out of vents, just cold air! Worked fine yesterday...son drove it last night and now there is a problem...HELP!

Check the humidifier setting between the two dashboard vents and ensure they're in the red (not blue).
That's the first simple check.

Worse case, you need a heater valve based on your symptoms. It looks like this:

Help us help each other better... clarify which one was "it". You were given 3 suggestions...the stratified air dial (between the center vent in the dash)...the heater (water) valve...and a link that discussed the FSR (final stage resistor)?

Since she fixed it so quickly I would have to say it was the stratified air dial between the center vent.

(lol)...I wonder if we'll ever find out for sure? But more than likely...you're correct.

Yes, it was the humidifier setting between the two vents...of course NO ONE will admit to playing with it...but it is nice and warm now! Thanks again!

Thanks for the clarification...much appreciated....and you're right, no one will probably "fess up" to moving the dial.

BTW...its not really a "humidifier setting...but a "stratified air"setting...it allows the front passengers to "temper" the air cooler/warmer and has been a BMW HVAC thing for decades. An example of its correct usage is...on a long journey/trip...the driver can turn the dash vents to blow cooler air in their face (to stay alert) while the passengers remain nice and cozy with the regular temp settings. And the rear passengers have the same ability to control their environment (like if they are sitting on the sunny side of the vehicle) and temper the air coming from the back of the rear console without asking the driver to change the IHKA control panel up front.

(the rear "blower" on the left is optional...but the stratification TEMP dial on the right is standard feature)
