Need some help with a P0102 Code

Hi,

I have a 2003 Z4 2.5 with a M54 eng with around 61k miles. After sitting for several months I put in a new battery, changed the oil, oil filter and air filter. The car ran fine for about 25 miles and then slowly began to run rough and shudder on acceleration. Subsequently the SES light came on with a P0102 code. I found a crack in the intake boot and temporarily sealed it but that didn't help. I cleaned the MAF, no help either and just got a hold of a used MAF today. The SES light is gone after a reset but the P0102 code keeps coming back. It runs a little better but not like it should. Still shuddering on acceleration. My initial thoughts are to check again for another vacuum leak but all along I've been thinking bad gas like maybe moisture from condensation got in to the fuel. That wouldn't give me this code, would it ? What else can I look at. What about the DISA thing and the Idle Control Valve ? I'm probably going to take off the intake boot and look it over really well but not now, its snowing out.

Thanks

It sure sounds like a bad MAF sensor or the wiring going to it. That code (low MAF voltage) is pretty specific to the MAF itself.

Still running bad. I put in a MAF which was said to be a good one, I removed the lower boot, no cracks, cleaned the ICV and checked the disa and still no good. I did notice when I step on the brake at idle, the idle increases to from 700 up to 1000. I this normal or is it indicating a vacuum leak?
