door freeze
As we all know it is winter, and it is freezing out. My X5 for some reason can't stand the cold.. Everyday I go to a car and the door locks are frozen. Once I get in the door will not shut. I've tried spraying the locks. Nothing.... Any ideas anyone?....

I still got it. It doesn't say anything about spraying on locks. Just the weather strips along the door.

Don't use grease in locks. It collects dirt/dust and will eventually clog it up.
Lock-Ease. That is all

Who needs the door to close? Man up and just drive!
But really, use lock de-icer or the stuff ken says above^ My parents 01 X5 did the same thing. Their solution, put it in the garage.

Yeah, WD40 won't do a thing in freezing temps. As Patrick said above, you need lock de-icer. This used to happen all winter long with my previous car when I was living in Michigan. It was so bad that I had to carry a small bottle of de-icer in my coat pocket at all times. Works very well, though.

There's always the "urine alternative" if it's an emergency.

Sort of. A new key for OBD2 E36s is still in the ballpark of $80-100. Not exactly winning...

You live in Boston, but you don't have CWP? That would keep the doors warm.

So is mine, but decadence is nice. When the temps are below 40 in the morning, heated seats and steering wheel (I know! try it sometime) make for a nice commute.
