Has anyone upgraded sound system in 750?

Thinking of upgrading my OEM sound system. Can someone recommend what speakers I should get. Preferably same size.
Any good sound installers in Chicago area?

2010 750i M Sport, Dinan Stage 3, 22" Agetro rims, H&R sport springs, RDsport front lip, video in motion, AlpineMSS HID 8000k. All exterior chrome, roof, roof spoiler and everything behind wheels painted black, wing, side and rear reflectors and door handle trim painted white, light smoke on tail lights. Audio: focal separates, earthquake low profile subs under front seats (crossed over as mid base to support the tiny 4" fronts), arc audio amps, audiocontrol lcq-1 and epicenter, (2) L7 subs.

Same size speakers. Any decent local audio shop can install it.

If you don't mind me asking aprox. how much did it cost you?

Just about 5k.

Listened to my buddies new M5 with the B/O system, we then climbed into my car. He was not happy at all. Went back to his car, he frantically messed with his settings, trying to get any sort of decent bass and depth out of his system. The B/O system is decent, but desperately needs a low end. It does sound better than mine in high and mid clarity and separation, just needs about 2k worth of low end. Anyone who's had any time around quality car stereo systems knows that a full range system, even one not as dynamic, sounds worlds better.

The B/O system with 2k worth of low end would sound incredible.

A local stereo shop gave me a quote last night of $11049.

That's a joke of a price...I actually only paid 4k, but the shop does all my cars and gives great deals, so 5k is more realistic.

Could you provide a list as to what exactly was installed? I'd like to get some upgrades to my system, especially mids and highs as I don't like that much bass but shops aren't willing to mess with my car as its high end and it'll probably be the first time for them.

I used JL Audio Cleansweep and signal summing in my car. Battery and factory amps are both in trunk so it is an easy install. Once those are installed you can replace all factory speakers or just add low end. I added only low end (2 JL Audio 10's) and built out custom trunk myself. All in for parts about 1800-2,000.00 Labor about 1,000.00 if you added a four channel amp another 1k and separates another 1k

Super clean, did you used to have a shop. That certainly doesn't look like amateur hour.

BTW way I had Focal K2 power series separates and coax in my last car and left them in it. Honestly, unless you are an audiofile or want serious volume (blow out your eardrums) you can go with a nice pair of JL's seperates and spend half the money. Go with a HD 750 for subs if you go 10's or HD 1200 if you go 12's or HD 750 for one JL 13 and HD600/4 for seperates. Good power is soooooo much more important than good speakers. Decent speakers, great power=great sound. Great speakers, decent power=decent sound. You can find all this stuff online for about half the retail. Should be able to put together a kick a** system for three grand plus install. (1000.00)
