Auto start/stop engine not working

Hi I'm having issues with Auto start/stop engine function. It's just not working and engine doesn't shut off. It's been pretty cold last week in jersey so is it related to cold weather? I think manual does say its needs some certain temperature to work. Did anybody else has this issue? Thanks

From what others have been reporting before - yes, cold weather does influence it. How long are your drives? Does it not work even on the longer ones when the engine is fully warmed up? It's supposed to be in the 50's around Wednesday - check again then.

It doesn't kick in if the outside temperature is under 37 degrees. It has been way too cold in NJ this week for it to work. Nothing is wrong with it.

It will still go on if you turn the heat off, or turn it to a lower temp. I noticed that if its set to above 76 ASS wont kick in. But mine is off most of the time anyhow.

The start/stop function will not work when the temps drop below 37 degrees and you hear the gong. So yes, the cold weather may have something to do with it.

Hmm . . . I have had ASS engage at 20 degrees ambient, but only when the car is fully warm, engine and interior.

May I ask what model year car you have? This may be part of the ASS update.

ASS doesn't work? Could we call that a good thing?

When I test drove a 335, my CA said ASS won't work because it's too cold. So I never experienced it.

mine works fine even at outdoor temps below 37º.. i'm actually getting used to it and kinda like it.. though i can see how it can get annoying

i'll wait until my first scheduled maintenance and have them re-program it then, just so i can have the option to keep it off

what i really want is for the car to start and stay in eco-pro.. (not sure if that can be fixed with coding or not)

It's really weird how you read so many things on this forum.

When I took a test drive, it was really cold, so I didn't get any ASS during my test drive. According to my CA, this was normal. Also, based on what I have read on this forum and in the owners manual, I shouldn't expect to get any ASS when it's really cold.

But then people like yourself say you're getting ASS all the time even when it's below 37.

As usual, most CAs have only a peripheral understanding of these vehicles, and don't know what they're talking about. Mine also works well below 37 degrees, but as another poster pointed out, the engine has to be nice and warmed up. The 37 degree parameter is not a disqualifying factor. The computer looks at a multitude of variables and then determines when ASS will/won't kick in. How many and exactly what ingredients the computer uses to "bake the cake", I don't know. But I can tell you for sure, that the 37 degree temp isn't a definite ASS killer.

It makes sense that it would work when the car is warmed up.

My 335 is a 12/11 built, but has all the updates including SIB 12 15 12, etc.

While my car ASS invokes in temperatures well below 37F, it is fairly uncommon.
