Thinking of retrofitting Professional Nav.
I have had X3 for a year now and I am thinking of retrofitting professional navigation. I have the smaller iDrive screen but no nav function. Has anybody tried to retrofit navigation into an F25 X3?

Thanks, there are a few options I am looking at, the most difficult part may be getting a cable from the GPS antenna to the back of the CIC unit, I can find the combox but there is no sign of the antenna cable, I might have to run it from the shark fin all the way through. I am not even sure that there is an GPS antenna in the shark fin, I do have extended bluetooth hence the combox, I am not sure there is an easy way of telling if I do have a GPS antenna in the shark fin?

Goto realoem.com, browse the parts for your x3 and see if it lists different part numbers for the fin depending on nav or no nav. If there is only one part number for the fin, then you are set. If there are different part numbers, then you will need to buy a new fin.

Thanks, I looked at realoem.com and there are 3 or 4 different fin antennas listed under my chassis number but only 1 listed with the bluetooth telephone connection and its the same part number as the fin listed for bluetooth + Professional navigation.
If my car didn't come with bluetooth then I would would have to get a new antenna but it looks like my antenna has the GPS antenna included. Now I need to find out if there is a cable from the GPS part to a certain point in my car or I have to pull off the roof lining and run a cable from the antenna all the way back the the center console? Once again if anyone has an easier way than pulling off the roof lining please let me know. |

Just kidding. Maybe if some other geography provides some retrofit for the option, obtaining parts might be easier. I guess it would be nice if some of what you need is already built-in. I had a couple of cars with Nav and wished that I had gotten it but never bad enough to try and retrofit it. I understand the feeling though. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
